clean the scuff marks /save the blue

April 24 2007 at 4:56 PM
Alex

any idea what is the best way to clean the BIG spinning driver. Not the three small ones but the Big one. When trying to get as close to the edge as possible, the blue edge sometimes scrapes the wall and end up with white paint marks on it. It stands out tremendously against the blue and looks old.

I want to clean the paint off without taking the blue off with it. So that i can take a photo and not have all the scuff marks show up. Before i experiment, i hope to get a proven method.

Thanks
Your Servant Alex

Mine is all white

Because I am too lazy to clean it off. Go to Lowe's paint dept.and buy some Denatured Alcohol solvent. It is mainly used as a shellac thinner and fuel for alcohol lamps and stoves. It will still take a little elbow grease but does work. I use it to keep my vacuum cleaners clean when bumping the baseboards.

Clean the blue? Who does that? I thought those battle scars were proof that your Cimex was well seasoned and worn.

they've mocked me to!!! but i had the last laff!!!

i'm with Rick. others have scorned me for my scraped and dented plate edge.

i like to think of it as they are missing out on a tremendous add-on sale, and are just jealous of my skills.

i charge a buck a linear foot for baseboard scrubbing.

thanx --- Derek.

Inner Tube

You can get a 12 or 13" tire inner tube (for a nice snug fit) and cut it to fit the spinning deck (turn it inside out when installing it) for a nice 35 cent solution.

SPLASH GUARD for the mex

April 25 2007, 1:46 AM

Recently I went to lowes and bought some vinyl cove base to attach to the mex as a splash guard. I first tried industrial velcro and that held it on till the adhesive on the velcro got wet. I then tried marine epoxy and that didn't really work at all. The last and best thing I tried was hot glue, and that held until I caught the metal table leg edge at a restaurant that I do, peeled it right off.

Does anyone have the best splash guard solution?

Maybe this cove base is too heavy? The length on it is perfect, and you never have to worry about setting the mex down hard on a tile floor. It worked fantastic at eliminating splash from the tile/grout scrubbing too.

Rivets? Possibly the nylon would be better than metal?
