Pre-spray Punch, let dwell, then scrub in.....May 9 2007 at 12:39 AM | Alex |
| .....Or pre-spray Punch, scrub it in, then let dwell, WHICH?
My mind told me to do the latter. I concluded that this way will
allow the scrubbed -in punch to dry just a bit so that when i MEX/DS I won't be overwetting the fibers.
In effort to prevent overwetting the carpet fibers, I found that i tend to not use enough DS when fibers were still wet from the punch. I lose this way cause not enough DS is no good either cause the results was less than its potential cleaness. Hope i worded that right.
Could I be overlooking anything?
Thanks

prespray / scrub / dwell, you're right on Bro.
other than that, i can only say practice makes perfect. i don't think anyone can type up and explain in a way you'll understand, how much is too much or too little to apply for you personally, or for certain jobs. it took me awhile. in hindsight i used to over-apply. a typical thing for someone new to do. i find less is more. i now tap the trig lightly when walking.
the best thing i can explain in type is, for me at least, as soon as i see foam slinging, even a little bit, i know to lay off the trig and feather/tap the trig only.
but that's what i find in my case, someone else might be different.
hope this helps --- Derek. |

That's what I found too Derek. The first time I know I was puting too much juice down. Now I just tap the trigger when I see the foam. Rick Thode gave me a tip at Encapfest that he uses. I hope he does not mind me sharing it but you can turn the Shut off valve half way or he ties the chord around the handle once so when you sqweeze the trigger it only goes half way.
Alex I did one job where one section I presprayed punch then scrubbed it with my pile lifter let dwell 10 minutes then mexed with DS in the tank. The other half I presprayed did not scrubb and mexed with DS.
The first section came out much better. I too am new to this and experimenting with different methods. |

Just how nasty are these carpets that you need both products?
Is it comm or res.
I have only done comm and never required a prespray.
thanks

Punch helps with either greasier or just a little dirtier carpets.
This Punch Pre-Spray and Encap with Cimex/DS works best in places like restauruants with greasy olefin carpets.

Dwell....
Interesting concept; sorta like prevacuuming, or rinsing the lines in your Cimex...

KEN! four rooms with with huge stains all over the place. They had a dog in the house. It was said that it was kept in a cage, but it didn't look or smell like it. I tried taking before and after photos but my cell phone didn't have enough megapixals. lol
Hope to get a digital soon. I scrubbed an oil stain that literally disappeared. Carpet was cleaned one year ago by idon't know who.

Were they urine?
If so I would not encap them they really, really need to be flushed with Hot Water Extraction and a Water Claw, with a specific urine decontamination chemical.
Do you have a black light?

I really desire to get a extractor Del. Its just when i get one i want it to be tweaked and peaked to the superlative degree. And i don't know enough about the specs yet to know that i'm getting that. Some guy called me from Roto-vav today. Where he got my number i don't know but i 'm not getting into something i know nothing about. I did some reading on the claw, like to have it. Awesome!
I don't have black light but i'm sure i can afford one of those soon. How valueable to the job are they?
Carpet turned out pretty nice looking. AS far as smelling i don't know haven't been back since cleaned.
Thanks

Alex I have a TM but one day 1 of my regular customers called me and and their dog had gone in the usual place over and over. Of course it was up stairs and down the hall. I wasn't feeling well so I took my water claw (the little one)
and my small Home Depot wet vac the hose fits perfectly on the inside of the water claw, took the filter off the wet vac and extracted with that. It worked great. Make sure you place a towel under the wet vac as the little ones
(4 or 5 gal) foam up sometimes.
I put my Urine product down first one gallon and then flushed with three gallons of water. The T&M guys will tell you this is unprofessional looking but my customer was very impressed and it worked great.
Not every wet vac will work the hose has to fit inside the water claw or be 2" to fit outside. |

| Spotting Extractor | May 10 2007, 7:58 AM |
Alex,
Perhaps a spotting extractor may be the shorter term answer for you for this purpose, they are smaller and cheaper then a portable.
Here is the one I have. There are many out there.

I'd do a search or ask on the ICS board for their reccomendations to. Del Scrivner

Del thanks for the info. that looks like a pretty good one. I called to get more info. i'll try back tommorrow.
RickL does the waterclaw cause more suction when hooked up to a low suction unit? For some reason i feel i read that on their web-site.
Thanks

| Alex, I have used a Spot Claw with mine. | May 10 2007, 11:37 PM |
Alex,
I have used a Spot Claw with my Aztec spotter. Like I said though I'd ask on the ICS board too.
I know that Cross American has some nice spotting extractors too. And Ed Valentine over there seems to be a stand up guy as well.

On commercial jobs that look like they are going to be tougher than average, I'll bring in both my Cimex as well as my Orbitec CX-20 (some market this as The Brute). I'll use the Cimex as basically my pre-sprayer (using a 50/50 mix of DS & Punch); then I'll extract/absorb as much as possible with the Orbitec and terrycloth pads, turning them over and then replacing them as they approach maximum soil absorbtion. Customers for whom I've used this double method have been VERY pleased with the results. In restaurants and other venues which have heavy daily use, the use of the terrycloth pads will shorten drying times considerably over scrub-in alone. |
