Voice Over Internet Protocol

Voice Over Internet Protocol, commonly called Voip.

How many of you use this ??

I use a free download program called Skype ( www.skype.com ).

I purchased a webcam, a Logitech Pro 500 for less than AUD$100.00.

This allows me to talk to anyone in the world that also has Skype connected for free.

My trouble 'n strife, Delia, talks everyday to her family in the southern Philippines for free.

She also uses the webcam, but the bandwidth that the camera takes up, makes speech distorted and the images jerky.

I talk to Dusty Roberts of Rugbadger fame on a regular basis, again for free.

I also know that Gary Bethel of Powerclean Australia, uses his Voip on his laptop when he travels to the U.S.A. as well as talking to other people overseas regularly from his home base in Australia.

The internet is certainly opening up new possibilities that some of us (ELDER people), would never have dreamed of previously.

I wonder what Superman would have thought ??

Cheers,

Shorty.

PS::: shortydownunder is my Skype handle.

Hi George,
I believe you can use Skype to call local, interstate and overseas land lines.

I do not know the pricing as such, but believe it is cheaper than normal telstra calls.

Contact Skype for correct info.

Cheers,

Shorty.

Thanks for that info Shorty, maybe I can get hooked up and we can talk. How cool is that? It seems that you are way ahead of me on the technical stuff.
