Fibreplus pads wearing

Hi fellows encapers

I was wondering how long the fibreplus pads last as I am finding different results on different carpet specially carpets that are direct stick glued to the floor. We clean many hotel lobbies and the pads last about 500 square metres. Today we cleaned a real estate office very small direct stick and it chewed my pads had to throw away only 30 sq metres the floor was not level could this be the cause. We are also finding it very expensive as for one pad cost us $5 each works out around $82 for a carton in Australia.

Try converting and freighting that to NZ and its way more

June 28 2007, 11:11 PM

Are you using a cimex Craig?

We find most of our pads will last anywhere from 200-600m2 (2000-6000foot roughly) but even allowing for that and the slightly higher chem cost over standard HWE chems, we're WAY in front over HWE for profitability.

Eg, I've done 3 commercial buildings this week and 4 the previous week after hours and each of them have averages between $150-$270/hour from pull up to pull away.

There is NO WAY I can do those numbers even with my genesis and 2 techs.

Plus, this is all one man band stuff with no security issues with doors open etc.

The carpets are dry and ready for work by 8 the next morning WITHOUT any drying equipment like I used to do prior to encap with HWEing.

Stop ya wingeing:-)

Check plumbing

Craig that doesn't seem like much life, even on direct stick poly I get way more than that. However if there's a blockage in the plumbing and you are running the pads dry that would wear them quicker.

Pad Wear Variables

June 29 2007, 8:18 AM

As George mentioned above, keep your plumbing clean. You will also experience pad wear variables with different carpet fiber and pile types. A third factor that affects pad life is your speed of cleaning (and there lies a variable that often gets overlooked).

We normally get 7,000-10,000 sq ft of carpet cleaning out of a set of the beige FiberPlus pads --- cleaning at 2,000-3,000 sq ft per hour. Now let's say I cleaned at only at 500 sq ft per hour... what kind of life span could I expect from of my pads? My pad life could drop down to around 1,500 sq ft per set of pads. Everyone cleans at different speeds, and if you spend more time scrubbing, your pad life will naturally be reduced. So perhaps a better a better way to measure pad life would be in terms of hours of usage -- 3-5 hours seems about average for a set of the beige FiberPlus pads.

Hope this gives you some more insight into pad wear variables.

Re: Pad Wear Variables

Thanks Rick that does make sense, do you think when cleaning in large open areas we can get our speed up less pad wear but when cleaning in small tight areas it is more slower there for more pad wear just thinking out loud. I have checked the plumbing everything is running smoothe.
I am using my cimex to scrub tiled floors in 5 showers at a brothel on Monday using brushes or pads and aqua-mix poultic to remove body fat inground into the tile the demo we did ripped it out where as 2000 psi, acids and alk had no chance.
