| new here, I can smell the "clean". Refreshing lack of rudeness.
I own (but have not used much) a Rotovac, Mytee Portable, power-flight water heater and a small air mover. My plans for millions died after lugging all of that into and out of houses o-f-t-e-n. sigh.
I am a hi-rise window cleaner and woke up last month (june) tired of dealing with builders. But that is another story. So, I get it in my OCD head I might want to go back to cleaning windows for residential clients. No ropes, no lifts, few ladders and people who really appreciate me, my time and my efforts to deliver great service and great results.
Enter: carpet cleaning.
I recall having the Rotovac and start looking at websites for carpet cleaning business. I find the OP type of cleaning, read a few testimonials (just like the rotovac days... sigh)and am posting on any website that will have me.
My idea is to mix up winder warshin with carpet cleaning. use the same adverts for BOTH. The 'idea' is to double my ROI by hopefully having two services the average home owner would want. Get the phone to ring, do the stimate, close the deal and deliver the best dang carpet cleaning (I already do this with window cleaning) money can buy! Then, in theory, these folks will help spread the word about me and my wonderful service.
Okay, here's the question; Does OP (encap or not encap) deliver a quality carpet cleaning that truly makes a difference. One that will impress the carpet owner enough for him/her to shout out my praies?
I'll go sit in the corner now and await the replies.
regards,
Phil

| great tools | July 5 2007, 9:55 AM |
All these tools work great in the hands of a skilled operator with good chemistry. These tools can also be the worst if not used correctly. Over my 23 years I have worked with truckmounts, portables, OP, Cimex, CRB and others. It used to be that you were pretty much limited to extraction systems if you wanted to do a great job, but thanks to guys like Rick Gelinas and his hard work, the chemistry has made it possible to equal or better the results of old systems with newer, quieter, faster drying, more enviromentally friendly systems. I personally use OP & CRB for my residential with Punch and I can honestly say that I've never had more satisfied customers than I do now. The carpets come out a least as clean and spot free, but the biggest plus' my customers mention are
1) No open doors to let mice or bugs in.
2) Carpets are immediately usable and dry.
3) Carpets appear to stay cleaner longer.
4) no screaming machines that disturb the customer or their neighbors.
We live in a society of convenience. We want 10 minute oil changes, we want drive thru, we want fast food. Make it convenient for customers to do business with you and they will come.

I am impressed with Rick and beth over at the "office". So much so that i repeated how impressed i was three times..... three times .....three times ...oops
I like it when someone runs a business in a friendly, soft, energetic, fun loving way.
AND they (Rick and Beth ) answered my qesutions slowly. No fast paced hooboo gunk. Plain english.
Kudos. |

Phil-
It took me along time to swallow encapsulation and reading literally hundreds of post. Finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a Cimex for commercial its great, I have used it resdidentialy also in fact thats all I clean my own home with. I do beleive it stays cleaner longer. I still do alot of HWE but enacpsulation has a new client, quick, efficent, clean. The pictures on the post before this Todays Job was my first real nasty test, and encap. won. |

Here is the easy answer Phil...
How many Chem-Dry trucks do you see on the road?
They built that business on OP/Bonnet cleaning. Now I am not saying that it's the best method for residential cut pile, and I'm not saying that THEY are the best cleaners either. BUT...they have one of the most successful ($$$$$) carpet cleaning franchises in the U.S.- again built on OP/Bonetting.
Oh yeah, I also run a porty and RotoVac for my HWE as well. I pre-spray/agitate with my Sprint- WOW what a difference in:
A) How much less I sweat. B) How much better my back feels when done. C) How much better the carpets look. D) How impressed my clients are that I mechanically agitate the pre-spray- 99% have never seen that done before.
Make you own luck,

I get better educated daily. I am very green (duh) and truly appreciate the input.
How interesting that you use Rotovac and a porty. I would like to pick your brain sometime.
Perhpas having the equipment I have and adding Pad/Op encap would be a nice combo. |

Yes that was my first equipment. Still my primary HWE equipment at this time.
