Advantage over your competition?

What are ways to create a competitive advantage over my competition? I looking for something over and above the "clean, owner-operated, IICRC" stuff.

Do you guys include a spotting program in your maintenance agreements where you go back if they spill coffee, toner, etc? Maybe carpet repairs?

It seems like there would be something fairly easy to implement, but I'm having a hard time coming up with something to really set myself apart.

for our monthly accounts we give 1-2 hours of emergency spotting depending on the amount the account brings in. I go to our monthly accounts several times between cleanings just to make sure it's looking good, and encourage them to call for any reason. so far it hasn't been a bad thing to do as we don't get alot of calls for what a cleaner might consider petty things!


PS we have an Assisted living facility that we've been doing up to 2 rooms per month free (it's never taken me more that 15-30 min) since the rooms are maybe 12x20 and we make huge profit off the account every month for the past 5 years

Interesting this was touched on a few days ago indirectly but few court on.
Trouble is guys we always think as Carpet cleaners, try thinking "out of the Box" last year I have reset my whole Marketing stragity EG: Basically everyone does the same thing & has the same degree of knowledge, just think how many times have you been challenged about your qualification ?????? once per year.... Most clients wont's there carpet cleaned & that all, untill theres trouble.
Sell different, say your "Cleaning Systems".... the combine: Knowledge,Experance,Equipment,Selecting correct cleaning Solutions, ETC = your "Cleaning System" for each job is different make your client feel special sell the concept that you will cleaning there job according to there special requirement = "Think outside the Box", be a leader not a follower (yes you will make mistakes). Thats how you get in front of the Competition.
