White Wine ProblemJuly 16 2007 at 2:16 PM | Dave |
| Has anyone ever had a problem removing white wine? I have a call back from a customer who has a off white sculpted berber that had a whole bottle of white wine spilled in one area (1-2 foot spill). I used Punch at the 12 oz mix, and cotton pads with the challenger, and even pre-sprayed it with DS.
Am I doing something wrong? When we left the stain was gone.... and the carpet with basically dry.
Thanks,

I've never had a problem eliminating white wine.
Although I prefer red wine, I can make white wine disappear too.
Encap-Spot and a towel will get rid of the wine residue without a problem.

I do not have any encap spot available....Would you recommnend that I encap the area with DS and the Cimex with the fiber plus pads? Any other ideas?

A 25% mix of DS or a 50/50 mix of Punch should do the trick. Those chems won't have the level of solvency or the color reduction capability of Encap-Spot, but you don't really need solvency or color reduction for white wine. Just blot it and wipe it by hand with a terrycloth towel. No need to rinse. Just do plenty of blotting and wiping. Give it a shot, I think you'll be fine.

Have you looked underneath the carpet? How old is the spill? If it is very recent,no amount of fiber cleaning will totally eliminate the source.Do you have access to an extractor and spot claw?If not,can/do you offer repair/re-stretch services?

Hey Rick when you say color reduction are you referring to the color of the stain or do encap spotter is capable of reducing the color of the fiber?
I just want to be careful i don't try to hard and mess up. I've been having some pretty tough stains lately, no color reduction in fibers yet though.
Thanks

Rick
I never cease to be amazed as to the success we have with encap spot. I order it by the case and use it on almost every res. job and of course commercial also. Many times the juice or other drink spots seem to disappear as soon as the product is applied.I'm sure there are equally great products available but the plus here is that it is designed to work with your whole line of products. Eliminates carrying a lot of specialty products. Just my nickles worth.

Wayne, to be entirely honest - I'm continually blown away by what it can remove too.
I'm glad to hear that you like it

jUST want to clarify what i meant.
My statement was: "I been having some pretty tough stains lately and haven't had any color reduction yet".
Clarification: With these tough stains i've had much success with removing the red color, But there was no color destortion/bleaching of the carpet fiber itself from using the Encap-Spot.
I see how that statement could have been percieved the wrong way just cause i didn't think first. Just wanted to clarify that.
Thanks
