Micro Fiber!July 21 2007 at 4:58 PM | Alex |
| I had a prospect call me and ask about cleaning there upholstery. I ask what type of material is it.They said micro fiber. Some times people don't know the correct terminology so they use different words to try and decribe it, like myself. lol
Anyway, question: Is there such a couch-set made of micro fiber? Or anything thats close to looking like microfiber? If so can it take encap cleaning with drill driver and fp pads?
They said that they take the pillow covering (microfiber) off and wash them on delicate cycle.
Charge by the square foot?
Thanks
Your Servant Alex

Microfiber furniture is sweet to clean, I've been able to remove all kinds of crud, black marker, ink, food etc. I like to do with little water as possiable, suggest you brush when done. Once you clean one of these you will welcome them, at first glance it may appear to be sueade check you tag its polyester maybe even mixed with olefin, anyway sturdy stock. Best of luck. |

Jeff what do you use to brush it with. Microfiber is EZ to clean and Jeffs right there isn't anything I've come up on it that I couldn't get off. YET |

Try a clean folded white bath towel, works better than a brush, and faster IMHO. |

Micro fibre has different names depending on who the fabric manufacturer is.
Such as:
Micro fibre
Macro fibre
Micro suede
Macro suede
And a whole lot of others.
Responds well to HWE, also to Encapsulation.
Solvents can be used on the above with care.
Brush while still damp.
BEWARE OF THE FLOCKED MATERIALS --- DO NOT USE SOLVENT ON THESE.
Cheers,
Shorty.
I've seen the light, and changed my ways. |

| i wouldn't use the drill driver! | July 22 2007, 9:56 PM |
from what i've read, MF is sensitive to heat. a high-velocity drill will create quite a bit of heat.
use the "milder" approaches above i'd reckon Alex
thanx --- Derek. |

follow Ricks advise and brush it and the RINSE it. You'll be much happier if it's soiled at all with HWE than VLM!!!

Actually Danny, I've had pretty good success cleaning medium soiled commercial upholstery with Releasit/encap method. But I agree, that HWE is the way to go if the upholstery is heavily soiled.

I use an op stepson made by CCS, which is like a really heavy auto buffer. I dont like going against the grain of the material when I do uph. especially if its old. Sometimes it will fray. For delicate pieces I'll use my heated spotter, but I think the agitation of op works better. IMO. |
