COMMERCIAL Duct Cleaning! :)

July 22 2007 at 10:12 PM
Derek

who of you "commercial only" fellas also provide duct cleaning?

is it a relatively easy sell since we have all the contacts at our commercial establishments?

(for equipment i reckon Abatement is the ticket)

thanx for any personal experiences & feedback on commercial duct cleaning.

--- Derek.

Derek,

I have thought about doing duct work, but I don't want to put too many eggs in the basket. I am staying with what works best for me. Encap

Derek, I have plenty of experience in commercial ductwork. You will have to be heavily insured, have a work history in the industry (hard to do when just getting into it) The 20 billion dollar a year corporation I used to work for would not even consider a company with less than 5 years of experience and have a licensed HVAC person on staff.

From what I understand too the duct cleaning equipment for commercial usage must be MUCH more powerful then a residential set up too?  No RotoBrush action there.

derek,

i dont post much anywhere these days but i will read some messages here and there. i thought i'd post a reply to yer duct message.

#1) in the cleaning business, have as many eggs, and baskets to put them in as possible(or as much as you can handle), cause when one is slow, the other kicks in.

#2) whether you do residential or commercial, insurance is a must. mega policies are most times required with the larger corporations, and is why i have not messed with them for over 20yrs. this old man dont deal with red tape anymore

#3) abatement equipment, dollar for dollar, is the best in my book. been using abatement equipment since they began back in 1990.

#4) why not do residential duct/dryer vent cleaning? more than likely yer doing commercial carpet cleaning, and you need to invoice your customers to get paid.
residential is much easier, costs less to get started, you get paid on the spot, and the potential for referrals far beats commercial.

i was in yer shoes over 30yrs ago wondering if just one service will be enough to provide for my family.
we all have our preferences, this i understand. just thought i'd share my experiences with ya :}

good luck
