Cimex in smaller spaces

August 3 2007 at 11:48 AM

Aris

What is the best technique for the Cimex in smaller spaces and around cibicles...etc.

I find that if I hold the solution lever open it seems to get too wet, I've been pumping the solution lever but I'm concerend that maybe I'm not getting enough solution down.

How much do I need to worry about putting down too much DS in certain spots?

Any helpful advice for Cimexing around tight spots would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aris

Aris,
Yes, you want to continuously flex the solution trigger when you're working in tight areas. Feathering out the solution by intermittently squeezing the trigger will generate just enough flow to produce a nice light even whitening of the surface. If you see that you're starting to kick up a lot of foam - you can see that you're dispensing too much Releasit. The foaming factor is one of the features that makes Releasit easy to work with. Releasit has a perfect balance of foam. The light foam on the surface of the carpet gives you a visual cue, letting you know you're working with the right amount of juice on the carpet. Makes it very easy to see exactly what you're doing.

Tightwun

Hi Aris,
this is what I normally do when working in tight spaces, such as going into small walk-in wardrobes, etc;

I stand the handle upright on Big Yella, then simply proceed to do the job.

I may have to go into a walk-in wardrobe, close the door & clean behind it, with the handle in the upright position, this is no problem.

You merely pivot the machine on the wheels just the same as you normally do, except the handle is upright instead of laying further out.

I feather my solution out, triggering more only if I feel I don't have enough down.

It's easier to lay juice down, turn off, then agitate sometimes in small areas.

Like everything, using Big Yella has been a learning curve, but it's one that has given me great pleasure finding new ways of meeting challenges, one that I now look forward to.

I think I must be going senile

I use the 19" Cimex and do not have a problem, cluttered/small areas do take more time & care.

Cheers,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my ways.

Does Size Matter????

August 3 2007, 6:44 PM

Over the last 15 years I have owned every size Cimex makes. The cutest one was the little one (I don't remember the exact size, but I believe it was a 10") and it had velcro pad holders, great for bathrooms. The 15" Cimex that turns at a higher rpm was ok, but everyone favored the 19", including me. The 24" was a monster to move in and out of the van and was always kicking circuit breakers. More later....

I had to answer an important call. As I was saying the 24 and 30" machines were monsters. I believe the 30" one weighed in around 180 lbs. We only use the 19" now. I clean alot of Denist offices and use the 19" with the handled upright as Shorty mentioned. Best all around size IMHO.

It's only 19 inches wide and fits into most spaces. Areas it can't fit into generally don't get dirty anyway, since people can't fit into those areas either

I agree...it fits into all the spots I need it to, the odd spot that It doesn't I do by hand...I've also used my Sebo Duo which is basically a baby crb, gets into some tight spots.

Thanks for all the input guys. Rick, you're right, the fact that the DS has the foam it makes it easy to see if you're putting down enough solution or not...hadn't really thought of it that way before, however that makes it easy...and that's why I like it.

No problem getting under desks, in cubicles etc. with the 19". I thought too when I first got my Mex I would have a problem but you'll figure it out. The only areas I need to use my iCapsol is where they have a desk in an office that's almost as wide as the office itself. Then I'll lift the mini over the desk for those areas.(believe it or not I have run into some of those)Or small offices where the carpet is in good shape I'll spray DS down with my pump up and run the mini over it(with one hand while I'm drinking a cup of coffee with the other....LOL) OK... I really don't drink and drive....
