| I was wondering if I have the only Cimex that is falling a part,I bought a new unit, and have no more than 15 hrs. on the machine. First the plastic hose nipple broke off (witch requires a oddtopsy to fix,and no one around here is familiar with these machines) and now the rubber bushing on the motor arm is missing. If I had mistreated the Cimex in hauling, loading,or unloading I would understand these problems, but thats not the case.I load/unload,and tie down, this machine myself, and this machine has not been abused.I read about some Cimexs lasting 20 years,at the rate mine is going if I get one year I'll be lucky. The Cimex does a good job,I just fill that it is cheaply made, and there are alot of upgrades that would help make it better.Rick, I'm not trying to be ugly, you have great service, and your juice is awesome,I'm must be just trying to vent.I need some parts. Can I get them from you or Cimex-USA? |

Scott,
We can get you any parts you may need.
The plastic nipple is a common weak link on the machine - I agree. It can be bumped during transport, and the plastic water feed elbow will shear off. However, the broken elbow is a cinch to fix... Simply take a straw from a trigger sprayer, and cut about 3/4 of an inch from the straw. Then join the rubber tube together by shimming it with the straw section. This is a very simple approach that literally hundreds of people have used to fix their broken water feed elbows.
Regarding the bushing, that is not as common of an issue. If you'll call the office we will be happy to do whatever it takes to get you taken care of. We try to bend over backwards for our customers. I'm sorry you had a couple of problems. But I'm sure these minor annoyances can be resolved easily and you will be a happy Cimexer. I'm flying today (laid over right now in Chicago), but I'll be in the office tomorrow. Beth is in the office right now and she has a good handle on everything related to the Cimex machines. One way or the other we'll do our best to get you rollin ASAP

Hi Rick,
I too have had problems with the rubber bushing slowly working it's way out. I sent you several photos by e-mail. I know you did not get them because you did not call. You have the best service I have ever seen and i should have called you, but it's like the bad widhshield wiper, I only think about it what it rains.
I have to pound the bushug back in with a hammer about every two weeks. The bushing is getting beat up.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Scott, it appears that you have that one in a thousand with problems. I don't know how you load & unload your machine, however, you will save a lot of problems, for the machine & your back, by using a ramp. |

Scott-
Just be glad that those problems are easy fixes- just think if you had a lot of problems with a high-priced truckmount. OUCH!

That post really surprised me.
In the couple of years I have had Big Yella, I have not had a single problem.
Still trying to figure out where the damaged parts are.
Are you talking about the black plastic nipple on the machine base, that connects the solution feed line from the tank to the pad holders??
I have been having some thoughts about this line.
Occassionally, I will put in to much juice, and consequently, end up with to much in the tank when I load Big Yella back in the van.
Previously, I have removed the hose from the nipple, pulled it through two of the retainers, then decanted the solution tank into a large bottle.
P.I.T.A.
I intend to mount a "T" piece connector under the tank with a small on/off valve, then I will be able to empty the solution quick & easy.
Know nothing about the other problem, but I'm sure that you will be back making dollars pretty soon with Excellent service.
Cheers,
Shorty.

Thanks, Rick
My post was not to bash you or excellent supply, you guys are awesome with service and supplies.I did the straw trick and it does work,Ill order the rubber bushing tomarrow. The Cimex is by far the best scrubbing machine that I have ever used,I just see where a few upgrades would make it better. I went to try to get the water flow nipple fixed and the guy said in 27 years he has never seen a Cimex, and didnt feel comfortable taking it a part. At first I was a little upset, then I relized if theres not alot of cimexs in my market then I have the advantage in my market and hope he never sees another. To all that post Thanks for the info, I dont post alot but read everyday, and if it was not for Rick and this board I would never have done a piece of carpet. Thanks to all! I have several Cimex machines, one 19" with over 2000 hours, no problems yet and it has been dropped off the ramp and rolled down the hill once. And get this, this particular machine has never been flushed out, always has solution in the tank, sits behind the drivers seat(of course there is a cage between me and it) in the "cleaning position" w/o being strapped in. After saying all this, it will probably break down tomorrow. Shorty, I have "decanted" a few bottles of wine in my time, but never my solution tank. LOL, I love the way ya'll talk down under.

No not Shorty...
My Cimex is just over a year old and really don't know how many hours as it gets used every day heaps.
The two problems I've had is the bottom loop thingy for winding the lead onto broke off with an air mover falling against it during travel.
BUT the most annoying thing is the 4 alan bolts that mount the main plate unti to the blue arms from the handle unit. If I tighten them 3 times a week I'm lucky. I've replaced I don't know how many due to them coming out unnoticed.
I've replaced the locking spring washers and all to no avail.
I doesn't stop you working, it just gets under my skin.
Anyone else come across this? Maybe it's the downunder effect:-)

| Don't make jokes about a loose screw !!!!!!!!! | August 17 2007, 5:16 AM |
John,
this may sound strange, (especially for a re-pat like you), but I swear it's true.
If you have a loose screw, such as screws/bolts that continually come loose, here is what I have done to fix the problem.
(1): Tighten the screw as much as you need to.
(2): Raid your wifes/girlfriends (how many you have is your business ), cosmetic bag and grab a bottle of nail polish.
(3): Paint the nail polish over the end of the screw that sticks out from the rear end of the nut.
(4): This will dry to a hard coating, to date, I have not had a screw come loose after doing this.
(5): When the time comes to undo it, a spanner will soon break the seal.
Hope you find this helpfull.
Cheers,
Shorty.

PS::::: I have indeed "decanted" a few bottles of the red stuff meself over the years
Matter of fact, we have a new preacher in town, goes by the handle of Pastor Flagon.
Hope you blokes know what a flagon is

| a good fix for loose screws | August 17 2007, 7:47 AM |
The best way is to use "Locktite"...you can pick it up in the nail & screw section at Home Depot...you simply apply either the blue or red locktite to the threads and then install the screw. This is the correct way to fix that problem... in fact, when I use to work in the precision machining business, that was a requiement for a lot of our assemblies...

Shorty what the heck is a spanner? I may already have one and don't know it.
We have two Cimex's and leave solution in them all the time. Only one time have I had to flush out one of my Cimex's because of a clog and that machine is nearly four years old. The other machine is two+ years old and never been flushed, but we have replaced the belt on it.
Also I heard your favorite color of nail polish was red. Any truth to that rumor Shorty?
Now we have replaced the black piece that the clear hose off the solution tank goes to many times. My guys are pretty good at doing it now since they seem to break it alots. They don't even disassemble the machine anymore to do it, but I am not sure exactly how they do it. I just know it takes them less than 5 minutes to do it.
