Dirty socks and knees

Dave

Am having trouble with nursery areas. Clients complain the childrens socks and knees etc. are soiled after getting down on the carpet. I encap with DS mixed at 4 oz. per gallon and occasionally mixed at 6 oz. about every 2 or 3 weeks. Don't usually get back to vacuum until after the room has been used, so kids get on the carpet prior to soil extraction via vacuuming. Also they frequently run bubble blowing machines in these rooms. Bubbles blown often for 2-3 hours 3 times a week. Could that also be causing a sticky "fallout" of soap residue? Also the A/C is on and off on a daily basis with the humidity running in the 80% range on my "dial". Could all the combined effects be the problem or what? I'm guessing to HWE but all we have is a 4 year old Aquaclean, with pretty low psi, which seems it would take forever to flush/rinse the areas. Should I just bite the bullet and do it? Also if I do what would you suggest regarding operation of A/C after extraction to aid in drying? Thanks!

You need a good OP machine for these type areas. Padding would pull out the soil. Basically you are cleaning a heavily used residential type area.

"Could all the combined effects be the problem?" YES

It sounds like there are a few factors that are coming together to produce the soil conditions they're seeing.

In a situation like you are describing, it would be good to HWE the carpet on a routine basis.

Encap is the ULTIMATE soil management - appearance retention system for commercial carpet.

However there are times that you may need to get back to square one and empty the carpet of its crud.

A combination of encap and HWE is what we recommend...

1) Spend the time and rinse the mess out of the carpet. (Using Encap-Punch will help to slow the wicking)
2) Speed dry the carpet by post-bonneting, air movers, air conditioning, ceiling fans, open windows etc.
3) Be prepared to follow the HWE cleaning with a good encap cleaning to correct the likelihood of some wicking.
4) Put it back into an encap maintenance routine, and also routinely HWE flush/rinse the carpet.

This combined approach should alleviate their concerns over dingy socks in the daycare and provide a healthier/cleaner environment.

P.S. Joe's idea about OP cleaning can also be helpful.

Day Care Centers

August 20 2007, 8:34 PM

I do quite a few Day Care Centers. Not all of the rooms are used by crawling children. The areas that are, I use the Steamin Demon with Procyon, , the other areas respond well to the Cimex and Releasit DS. This has been a winning combonation for us.
