Foam Cleaning With Releasit

August 22 2007 at 12:46 AM
Chris

I accidentally ended up with an old Advance Foam carpet cleaning machine. This is a machine with a horizontally mounted brush that spins in forward and reverse while whipping up and dispensing a heavy foam onto the carpet.

After doing a little research, I found a foam to use as a carrier that has a ph of 7.5. This foam is designed so you can add your own cleaning agents to clean carpets and is supposed to have very little residue.

My question is, do you think Releasit will work with the foam as a carrier?

I could be wrong, but I am kinda excited about being able to overcome some of the drawbacks of foam cleaning by using Releasit as the cleaning agent.

Chris, I use Releasit DS in my Von Schrader all the time. I am sure you will get excellent results with Releasit. I have not seen one of those Advance machines in years. I think that is a copy of Von Schraders carpet machine, it was never very sucessful, although it did clean as well as the VS1.

Test it and see, and let us know how it does.

Finding one of those old Carpetron machines is becoming rare these days.

I hope it works for you.

To foam or not to foam

Like Rambo, I also use Releasit through my Von Schrader.

Maybe the only difference is that my machine is a VVS-11.

This is the model that precedes the Esprit.

Fondly known to me as the Vintage Von Schrader-11 ( VVS-11 ).

I have been more than happy with the results I could obtain.

I have been using it on upholstery for going on a couple of years now, BUT, I have to admit, it has gone back on the shelf since I started using my Makita polisher.

Why change??

I use an electric sprayer to apply the Releasit, (quicker), then hit it with the Makita with the same pad that I have for my Cimex.

The Makita is a lot lighter and easier to use, also takes up minimal space & it's a lot easier on the back.

I recently had the chance to buy another VS-11 + the floor machine, but was too slack and missed out.

No reason why you can't use Releasit in this machine.

Cheers,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my ways.

I have to Admit...

Shorty, I probably use my 9277-C Makita more than I use the Esprit. I use the 100% 7" cotton pads from Plus Mfg. They fit on w/elastic and I have been using them for over 3 years now w/ little or no wear. If I am doing a residential customer for the first time and they may be watching, I use the Esprit. It is more show business and impresses the heck out of the customer. On the next visit (they are now a client) I would probably use the Makita. I agree it is lighter, faster and easier on the back and I can do a 7' sofa w/ 3 cushions in about 25/30 minutes.
