Steamin Demon Questions

August 24 2007 at 9:53 AM
Shorty

Got a few questions about the Steamin Demon that I would like answered.

How do you take it up flights of stairs? It looks to be a cumbersome piece of equipment.

Also how does one person get it in & out of the vehicle?

Is it a two man lift?

How awkward is it with the three hoses attached ( water, power & waste)?

What length of hose, water & waste, can you run?

Would it be suitable for residential/motel room cleaning?

Thanks,

Shorty.

PS:::: What are the vacuum motor/s rated at & the waste pump?

I believe it does not have a pressure pump, just relieas on the faucet pressure, is this right?

I've seen the light, and changed my ways.

Shorty,

The Steamin Demon is anything but "cumbersome". It's feather light! It's all aluminum construction is a dream to lift and move. I know what you're capable of Shorty, and this machine will be like nothing for you to move. I've hoisted vacuum cleaners that were more difficult to move than the SD.

It comes with 50 feet of hose. That's enough for small settings. You can add 2 more 50' hose runs. If you want to go longer than 150' you will need to order the machine with a secondary pump out.

Working with hoses is always a drag IMHO. But the SD makes it easy since the water hose, the discharge hose, and the cord are all wrapped together in a flexible clear plastic sheath. The sheath prevents the hoses and cord from getting tangled. It's a really clever configuration.

The vac motor is rated at 101 CFM - not a huge amount of suction. But with the SD you don't need huge suction to recover 3 gallons of water per minute, on account of it"s unique design.

There really is no other machine that can match the SD. It clean with 2-3 gallons of water per minute. That's better than most truckmounts. It's light and easy to work with. There's nothing like it for a portable "flushing" machine. That's why we sell it. If you decide to get one, I'm sure you'll like it a lot.

BTW who sells them in Australia?

Rick,
will the water hose and discharge hose that you sell for the demon fit to the hoses of the Tsunami?

Thanks

I am not Rick but since the Demon Co makes the super structure of the Tsunami I would say they will fit, since I have one of the first Demons makes essentially a Tsunami I know they fit

NO DEALer

As far as I am aware, no-one sells the Demon down under.

I have made enquiries over the years re the 110 - 220/240 volt conversion to no avail to John Downey. (I think)

Maybe my best bet would to be buy one second hand when I am over there, strip out the pump and vacuum and have them replaced with suitable ones down under in the proper voltage.

The hose set-up sounds very similar to the one I have for my slow speed CMX-20, all in the one sheath.

Thanks all.

PS::: I may have mentioned it before, many years ago, I once had a business called Steamin Demon Carpet Cleaning.

Logo was a devlishly smiling red demon, complete with three prong spear on a black background.

What about...

Hey Shorty, instead of stripping the whole guts out and re building, why not just use a transformer?

12 months ago, I'd have said the same as you, but since I've bought and used my Kool Glide Iron on a transformer, I'd recommend to anyone to go that option for something that is not available in 220volt.

Check the draw of the machine and check it out. I have a 3.3KVA unit and it only set me back $500.

The ONLY brawback with it is the necessity to carry yet another item onto the job. and it's not light so you can't chuck it under your arm on another load.
