my first wick back

August 25 2007 at 3:22 PM
Ken Jacobs - Toronto

I dont know what the spill was but my guess is the amount was about 1-2L
I did the regular Cimex/Releasit (5 extra dry passes) and 4 days later the stain started to show again about 50%.

I hit the stain with Proxy and 24 hours later you can see 100% of the stain.

Somebody said the spill might have been booze.

I'm considering spraying a small amount of releasit and go over with a Tuway Thin bonnet or going at the stain with an extractor then follow up with the thin bonnet to get it dry.

This might be a good waterclaw move and flush it out once and for all

Recurring spill stains

How To Eliminate a Recurring Spill Stain:
1. First. Scrub the spot for at least 60 seconds (scrub for 2-3 minutes if the spot is a tough one) --- scrub it with next to no moisture in the pad (practically zero moisture). So you're scrubbing the daylights out of that spot with MINIMAL moisture. I will normally scrub a circle around the spot with the Cimex first, leaving the spot bone dry. Then I'll run the machine over a section of dry carpet for a few seconds to dry out the pads. Then without squeezing the solution valve, I'll criss-cross over the spot for a minute or more as outlined above.
2. Next. Spray a few good mists of concentrated Releasit Encap-Clean onto the area using a trigger sprayer. The concentrate is mixed 1/3 if you're using Encap-Clean DS, and it's 50/50 if you're using regular strength Encap-Clean.
3. Final step. Work the concentrated Releasit down into the fiber by running the machine across the spot one last time.

This process works perfectly just about 100% of the time, if it is performed to the letter. You must scrub intensely with minimal moisture first. Then apply the concentrated Releasit. Then work the concentrated Releasit down into the fiber. The fluoro-chemical retards the wicking process during drying, and the concentrated polymer crystallizes any spill residue remaining at the base of the carpet. BaddaBing-BaddaBoom the recurring spot is gone for good. Even if the carpet is cleaned later with HWE, the spot won't reappear.

why not flush it and if it returns do the steps Rick suggests???

Rick, it's a shame you don't beleive in flushing carpet when it should be done!

He does!

You might be joking I am unsure. But trust me, Rick is the ONE guy who suggested hole heartedly I flush out the CGD carpet I keep writing about.

Take a look at the proof of Rick's method. I cleaned 1000 sq.ft. of olefin last night. Here's some of what i was up against.

Right in frontof the copy room door. LOOKS LIKE INK! Not sure though.

I applied step one to this stain as well as the rest on the first photo,
using 50/50 punch i sprayed from a spot bottle all
around the stains leaving stains bone dry.
I then did the same thing again with DS
scrubbing circles around the stain using
the juice tank (cimex) this time to apply DS.
Then came step-2 & 3.... As a result of
applying step 2&3, i got the following results.

As Rick once said: "BIGGI-DA-BING BIGGI-DA-BOOM STAINS REMOVED FROM THE ROOM". Well......maybe not quite the way he said it.

Danny, I DO recommend flushing carpets.

In fact, you can do a search on this very board to see how many times I recommend it.

But why would I suggest flushing for a normal recurring sill stain problem?

Now if I wanted to add extra steps, extra work, and still have a chance for failure...
then I suppose I could get behind recommending flushing typical spill stains. LOL

On the other hand, I want to make it easy to succeed as efficiently and profitably as possible.

When the time comes for flushing a carpet I WILL recommend it emphatically - but I won't recommend it for an ordinary spill stain.

Gotta work smart
