Commercial Carpet - Stain spreading

August 29 2007 at 4:42 AM
CJ Hong

Hi there,

I am cleaning a medical building (commercial glue down carpet) using the Challenger, punch, and a 17" encap pad. There was a stain (possibly medicine of some kind)on the carpet the manager asked me to remove. He had tried to remove it himself using a spot cleaner, but the stain grew larger as he tried to clean it.

Immediately after cleaning the area of carpet with the stain, all seemed to be fine. But the next day the entire area I had cleaned now is stained in uneven patches.

I'm going to clean using the Cimex machine and DS. Do you think this will work to fix the problem? I need your help!

Thanks!
CJ

I have had luck un similar situations with DS, on the stain area less solution is better I clean the area around it then with pads almost dry attack that stain vertical and horizontaly. If you have a air mover I would use while I was cleaning to expadite the drying time. The blochy areas you mentioned, could the DS solution been uneven and possibly missed those areas? Just my thoughts.

Let them know, preferably in writting that this might not come out and they might have created a problem with all the attemps at removal or have "set" the
stain. The stains I haven't been able to touch have been the ones where the customer has thrown everything they got at creating more damage. Also when you start working on it strange things can happen (like color loss) leaving the customer to believe you did it as it wasn't that way before!.
