Anyone else have problems with the Vento OP?September 1 2007 at 10:24 PM |

| I just bought the machine and let me say, I'm rather disappointed. My biggest complaint is the pad driver. The first time I used the machine, repeat, FIRST TIME, some velcro came off the bottom of the pad driver. Second time I used it, repeat, SECOND TIME, more velcro came off. When you pay $1700 for a machine, stuff shouldn't be falling off already. Maybe a few years down the line. Can I get a non-velcro pad driver? And will it still drive the pad when, not if, but when all the velcro falls off? Its frustrating. |

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the feedback on the driver. Tell ya what, let's send you a replacement driver. I'm really sorry to hear that you're having a problem. I hate it when stuff doesn't work like it should, and I can understand that you're frustrated with the velcro. So we'll get you out a new driver and you can enjoy the Vento as you should. Please keep in mind, if you ever have a problem with ANYTHING you buy from us - all you have to do is pick up the phone and let us know. I will ALWAYS take care of you - no matter what.

Chris, mine did the same thing. The brush/pad driver had some of the hook/loop tape come off. Rick took care of it no problem.
I have the other driver now and it works like a charm. I also got some more of the tape from Rick.
I have a theory what happened. the driver should be well cleaned using 90% isopropal alcohol BEFORE the tape is applied. Then, it needs to set for about 24 hours or so to allow the glue to cure.
Cotton pads when used some-what dry, REALLY grab the driver and the carpet. Nothing would hold very long if the driver had not been really cleaned before the tape was applied. The synthetic pads...when new...really grab the tape and need some convincing to remove. BUT when the break in, they will work fine too on the old driver. The new one will have no issues.
Use the brush driver with anything other than brand new cotton or brand new synthetic pads. The other driver will work with all of them.
One thing for sure, Rick will take care of you. |

I would have to believe that Rick's company will take care of anyone who purchases from them.
It gets to me how people will come on any BB and complain about a product problem before they even contact the people they purchase from to remedy the situation.
Technology is wonderful but do not by pass common decency an miss use the internet just because you can |

David,
Thanks for expressing your feelings about the post, it shows that you care. But I assume Chris was just frustrated and that's why he stated his concern. I understand why he's unhappy - it's frustrating when things don't work like they should. I'm sure he meant no harm by his post. And I will be happy to take care of him the first thing Tuesday morning, when we reopen for business. Thanks.

Hi Rick
I agree with you that Chris was just upset and venting.
My point was not much about him, as it is about how people in todays society have lost tact and a sense of propriety.
Instead of dealing with a problem directly with whom the problem lies, they go off and blast away to everyone and anyone who will listen to them and the problem is no closer to getting solved, many times farther from it due to the storm that was created by the rant.

I agree with David. The reason many of us appreciate this board is the tact, good manners, honor and respect that is demonstrated here. A basic principle many of us have been taught is, that, if there is a problem with someone, handle it privately between you and the one involved before broadcasting it to any and every one.
It's good, every once in awhile, to remind each other and new ones of these principles so that we can continue to enjoy this site without the foolishness found eslewhere. And Rick doesn't have to be the one to do it. |

What a breath of fresh air this board has been because of Ricks desire to help others and treat all fairly. I have been posting on various boards (starting with Floor Pros.com) for over 10 years now and still remember the knock down, drag out fights that used to go on especially on Friday nights. I'll admit I was involved in a few of them and have been kicked off of a few boards (something I am not proud of) I have picked this board as my "Home Board" because of the common thread of decency and respect and the willingness to share with others. |

You have a point. I probably should have called first and asked to get the problem fixed. I guess I was mostly asking if someone else had the same problem, like maybe I was doing something wrong. I appreciate the wake up though. |

Thanks. I heared goods things about you that's why I went with your products. I appreciate you surpassing my expectations. I hope to be a regular here and certainly don't want to start out on the wrong foot.
Is the new driver you are sending different? And if not what should I do on my part to keep the velcro from coming off? |
