Alex,

The X-Vac is the best Pile Lifter that I know of ---- because it does a decent job of vacuuming. Most of the Pile Lifting units I've tried have trouble on the vacuuming end, and actually spit the debris back out onto the carpet. Unlike the other units I've tried, the X-Vac actually swallows the majority of what it pulls up. A Pile Lifters job is to lift the pile and dig up the deep crud from the base of the fiber. However a vacuum cleaner will always have an edge when it comes to capturing fine particulate soil. So to perform the most intensive dry soil removal possible, you could run your X-Vac followed by your Lindhaus. That would be the ULTIMATE dry soil recovery system!

How about hooking your Pile Lifter to the T/M or your portie for that extra kick it really needs.

The X-Vac doesn't need "extra kick". It's got power galore! The place where all Pile Lifters fall short when it comes to vacuuming is on account of the large opening for the brush roller that they have. The large orifice allows too much air to escape without making a good seal on the carpet surface, so they can't get the fine stuff up as well a good commercial vacuum. The X-Vac does the best job of any Pile Lifter I've tested at getting up fine soil, but as with any large roller vacuum unit, there are some inherent limitations. In other words, the best Pile Lifter on the market is good, but it isn't perfect.

I agree that X-vac is definately a powerful sucking machine and with the brush turning at 10,000 rpms its lifting that pile like WOW! and digging crud like crazy. If you haven't gotton one yet, i recomend you get one if pilelifting is part of your systems.

I asked the original question cause i noticed that after i lift the pile tremendously with the X-vac, with referrence to what Rick said regards the particulate soil, I also vac after the lift. Inspecting after each step.

And i found that when I vac after, it lays the carpet back down. Not very much, but just a little. I figure its cause the brush roller is not as strong as the X-vac and only turns half the speed. Its a problem only with that very short dense loop pile. Oh well I guess you can't win them all..... Well on second thought maybe I can if I pile lift vacuum and pile lift again.

10300 rpm

Alex, I believe the fan velocity is 10300 rpms, I doubt if the brush rpms is anywhere near that on the X-Vac
