Bleached spot

Doing the hi-rise windows with a peer yesterday of a med-rise building (4 stories) and had to access the roof (to get off the roof for the windows) and the carpet is dirty. CDG....one area about 5 square feet is much much lighter that the surrounding area.

The facilities man said it was 'bleached' by the cleaning company. Now, I have seen what bleach can do...it is usually almost white...

I am not saying it is not...but I am curious how to figure out what it is. I do not expect anyone to really be able to help much without some photos (next week) but am kind of hoping I might get some feed back based on my description.

The carpet is a mauve color with typical patterns. Dirty here..dirytier there..you know the deal when carpet is neglected. But...where whatever was spilled....it is cleaner...and does have a 'bleached' look to it but not like it would (I think anyway) if one had poured bleach.

The impossible question is...will the 'clean' spot always be cleaner that the surrounding area after I clean?

I have a demo for the guy next week...and this is the largest job I have ever even thought about doing...not that it will help anyone figure out what it looks like...just hope maybe someone can at least give me some food for thought here.

bleach spills i've seen weren't white but more yellowish.

if it is bleach then you may clean up the dirt on it and brighten it some, but you won't make it look like the surrounding carpet.

thanx --- Derek.

If the spots were bleached/reduced/stripped, they will ALWAYS be lighter than the rest of the carpet.

Here is some excellent info on bleaching...
