Are the older cimexs worth having, and can you still get parts? I'm talking about 8 to 10 year old machines. The machine I"m asking about has been used in the concrete field. Do you feel this unit still has plenty of life left in it? I think the extra weight would be awesome and its over kill for sure on vct.I own a new unit and just dont want to strip vct with it any more,so I was woundering about an older unit the heavy duty dimond polisher model, maybe get it for cheap and use it for vct only and save my new unit for carpet only. Thanks for your advice,Scott

Is it a yellow machine? If it is yellow, and if it's in good shape, you should get it. It will rock for stripping VCT and if you ever want to get into stone grinding (serious money) you'll have the machine for it.

Rick,
This one is brown, how old do you think it is?

...flush it down.

The brown machines are more like 20+ years old. The age alone tells you that you may be getting into a problem machine since components deteriorate over time.

Another issue is that some of the parts for the brown (or the old gray machines) are no longer supported. Cimex has changed hands a few times since those machines were built. Those old machines are now considered obsolete. Therefore you may not be able to get replacement parts. Stick with the yellow machines. The yellow machines are current production models and you can get any parts that you may need for them.

Thanks Rick,
A 20 year old model is perfect, but not a 20 year old cimex.
Thanks for the info. Scott
