Ray, I'm looking for a new rotary. I'd kinda like it to be dual speed. Where do I need to look for one? |

Marty, it seems everyone else has it. My e-mail: raymoody@charter.net and my direct line is; 404.849.2724. I prefer the 17" 2sp 175/300 ------- I am on my second one. What I like about it is the weight, 50 pounds w/o the drive plate. Also you don't have to bend over to unlock the handle like most of the other machine sold. I have a 3/4" wooden dowel pin sticking out of the top of the motor housing 3" long and when I want extra weight I add 25 pound barbell weights (around $14 each at WalMart) to make it the weight I need it to be. It is a real powerhouse as I have had as much as 100 extra pounds on it for polishing marble and no straining of the motor. They cost around $1100 but worth every penny. I sold my first one to Mark Stanley and as far as I know he is still using it.

Koblenz machines are the BOMB!
We used their 1500 rpm machines ion our cleaning business for years.
My brother Dave uses their heavy duty rotary machine for powder polishing on marble/stone jobs.
The machines are as sood as they get. These are NOT plastic floor machines, like so many of the newer generation floor machines. THESE MACHINES LAST AND LAST AND LAST. And best of all, they are very affordable.
That's why we started selling them a couple of months ago. I apologize for not having them on the website yet. It's on my ToDo List. Here is their website (of course, as always, we'll give you a killer deal on any machine Koblenz manufactures)...

Are you recommending the one David does, or are you recommending the one Rick does? |

Ray...what's the brand of the machine you're refering to?
I personally use a newer Tennant F series dual speed...it's a very nice machine...2 years of use, no problems at all. |

Aris, I use the Betco, mainly because of the weight. Koblenz weighs 101 pounds, good machine just too heavy for me, same with the Tennant. Don't sell yourself short, get the two speed, I find that I use the 300 rpms more than 175. |

Thanks Ray...I do have the two speed 175/300, although I use the 175 almost exclusively...my understanding has always been that 300 on a 17" rotary is too much for most carpet...am I wrong? Do you use 300rpm on resi as well as commercial? and if so what type of bonnet would you use at 300rpm?
The Tennant is a beast to lug around, I think it's 106 pounds. 50 pounds does sound more managable, especially in residential...will it clean as well?

Good to know you sell them Rick. I didn't know that.
Two questions for you good folks coming from a guy who, gulp, has never used a rotary.
1. With a rotary could I do anything I can't do with my 17" CCS OP machine, challenger, and Icapsol? Or possibly do some things better?
2. Would a rotary with scrub bonnets be faster or better for commercial than an icapsol until I can afford either a brute type machine or cimex?
3. Is there such a thing as a good rotary that weighs less than 85 pounds? If so, links please! |

Ron, the exact weight is 79.4 pounds, I had it confused with another piece of equipment, still the lightest 2sp Rotary out there. I have run 300 rpm on all types of carpet except wool. Actually there is less strain on the carpet at 300rpm than 175 IMHO

Aris, As long as you lubricate the pad before you start, 300 rpm will be fine. I use a Hawk dual speed purchased from janilink several years ago. Have had no problems. Always 300rpm on carpets. |
