Wool area rug

I am guessing it should not be OP'ed. But wanted to ask first.

I have seen wool area rugs successfully cleaned with an OP. There was a wool rug that was cleaned with an OP machine the year before last at the skating rink at Mikefest, and it turned out fine.

Just make sure you use a glide, keep the rug well lubricated with plenty of detergent, and keep the machine moving. And keep a close eye on what you're doing and if you start to see any excessive fuzzing from the wool's staple fiber - then stop the cleaning and go with a different cleaning method.
