pet urine odor removal charge

October 25 2007 at 8:38 AM
Alex

Human urine on commercial loop thin pad underneath. 2 DAYS OLD. Geneally how much do anybody charge. I want to take on this job. 18" in diameter stain. I'm gonna start with extraction no pulling back carpet. I need to know a general charge for that.

Thanks

Latest Urine Job

October 25 2007, 10:19 AM

Alex I have a TM and a Rotary Drimastwer and I usually saturate the area with OSR (or a like product and extract using a "Spot Claw" then Also sit tight on it with thec rotary drimaster and give it another good rinse. Then hit it with Pro's Choice Urine Stain remover and good ot go. I thought. On my last URINE REMOVAL ONLY job for a regular I wasn't feeling well so I pulled out my small wet vac and spot claw and flushed and rinsed. I was shocked at how many gallons of water I had to pour on this Urine area to get the water to run clean
6-8 gallons (1 at a time then rinse with spot claw). Then put my OSR in let it dwell and then hit with the stain remover came out great!!

You have to be careful on which wet vac you buy most of them the hose won't fit
this one it fits perfect on the inside of the hose hook up on the water claw.

Hope this helps. Rick Lord (not Gelinas)

Yes,

a big help Rick, thank you.
I'm wondering if my tsunami would be sufficient enough to use with its good sucking power, or is the claw a must.

What is the national average thats one charge for that latter method Rick mentioned?

Thanks

Urine Charge

I agree with Rick, except be careful some flooring has particle or press board try to find a hear or AC vent and see what is under, these type of floors swell, if they have this type of floor have a release signed don't make it your problem. Remember it takes atleast as much volume of rinse as volume of stain, volume to volume increase as needed. I take care of 26 assisted living faciilities for the imparied and deal with alot of urine when you get to C.G.D. carpet use your Cimex and punch or Realeasit DS and fiber plus pads do not over wet, works great alittle Tea Tree oil will take care of odor. As far as charging figure mileage and minimum service charge the natonal average question is going to get either several answers or no answers to many variables.

A Water/Spot Claw or other specialized extraction/removal tool is a MUST!

Spot Claw is the cheapest- around $100.  Nothing else will recover from the pad- which you will be saturating with enzymes.

"Human urine"...

Alex,

Peeing on peoples carpet is MOST LIKELY not a good way to get work.

(Sorry man I had too, I can't pass up an easy opportunity there)

Charge

October 25 2007, 8:22 PM

Jeff is right about ther charge if it's just to remove the urine only (no other service performed) one spot I would charge my minimum service charge.
But if I were to do it as part of a CCing job I typically charge $50 to $65.
this is for an area where a dog has gone over and over and is really saturated if it's a little stain with no odor from a small dog I will usually hit with the Pro's choice stain remover sit on it with the drimaster and really rinse it well with an acid rinse. The small ones I usually don't charge for or charge very little.. Good Luck

peeing on peoples carpet is MOST LIKELY not a good way to get business

I have to disagree with you Del. Remember, when marketing, to be successful we have to get creative. Especially when we're desperate for some work. LOL

Thanks guys!

In that case Alex maybe you should drink a couple of gallons of red Kool-Aid first and see if you can get some red stain removal $$$$$$$$ at the same time then.

Don't worry you will use it Alex.  Personally I think $250 was probably high.

Do you have a UV light?  There is almost always more then one urine stain.

Here is how I price urine contamination and yes I know I am on the low end but I work alone so I still profit:

I estimate by the square foot.  If they are doing a full cleaning, which a HWE cleaning really should be done AFTER urine removal anyways then I charge $75 for the first square foot and then $30 for each square foot after that.  I charge the $75 for the first because it covers my time/profit better if they do only have one area.  If they do have more you are already set up and can do them at a lower rate.  So three areas- each 1 sq ft would cost $75+30+30= $135.  That would take about 30-45 minutes to handle and then there is the cost of cleaning and protector as well.  So the job would most likely run $275-$350 depending upon exact size (residentuial).

Otherwise I have a $100 minimum.
