I hate assisted living places. They wait and wait and wait until the carpet is ready for the dump, then call a carpet cleaner. They let those old people live in filth and stink and all the while collect about 3 grand a month per person that lives there. I do work for those places from time to time. They never call just for a cleaning. Somebody has to yak up,crap in the floor or flood a room by leaving the water running with a towel left in the sink before they call. Then while you are there they get you travel all over the facility to get a spot here, a spot there until you are there for 2 hours grinding on spot after spot. I love leaving those clean circles all over the place.
I offered one of these places a quarterly cleaning program for the carpet at 8 cents per. sq. ft.(Don't know what I was thinking.) The owner looked at me like I just sat up out of a coffin.
"WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT", he said. Then within a month him and his wife bought a $35,000 camper RV to park in front of their new $250,000 home!
I have yet to see one of these places that I would put my mother in.
Sorry guys, I guess I got carried away. Thanks for lettin me vent.
By the way Jeff, you did a fine job with that mess. Keep up the good work.

Joe-
The assisted living facilities I clean are pretty good to me decent money and most get quartely cleanings the director over the 20+ facilities really does a great job but has to work within state budget most of these are state or county ran. Guess I just got lucky sounds like.

You have the same set up that I have then. Even the same product.
So, may be I can get the same results in similar situations.
Hopefully ...

I had a simular OP job today. Trashed polyester rental. The results were so so.
I used gladiator pads and Blaze but I didn't heat the water.
That may have done it. I fired up the truck mount to go over the really bad spots.
I have never tried Hot Knife - I need to try it.
I am getting better results using TM HWE on the trashed polyester and olefin carpeting. I'm new to OP - hopeing I will eventually get the same results as HWE.

Mark-
Hot Knife is a product from vac away good product. Is it better than punch? I don't think so however I had it and wanted to use it I'm experimenting with diferent OP solutions and I use Punch and Hot Knife (seperatly) each about as often as the other both are great quality products.

Punch wins out:

I recently did a couple of dirty jobs and ran Punch head to head against Blaze(which I am told is very similar to Hot Knife) and I still prefer Punch. The Blaze has an odor that did not agree with me or my partner, and Punch cleaned every bit as good. I use a lot of Punch.

Great job Jeff! We have the same system and chems. Punch is more cost effective. We also have the "tankless sprayer system" on the HOS, you can see it on YouTube, My only problem with this system is the washing of pads later (Jeff, you have to facter in that time on the job)I have an extra spray system for sale at half price ($140) call me @ 404-849-2724 if interested.

Hey Rambo,
I'm fairly new to the OP thing but I'm not finding the cleaning of the bonnets a problem at all.
When I get to my warehouse at the end of the day, I just grab the bonnets and dump them in the commercial washing machine and start them cleaning and go home.
First thing the next morning, I go and get them out. If I have op work, I'll put them damp into the van. If not, then they get layed out on the drying rack for another day.
I would really estimate a max of 5 minutes a day tops.
I now have both a CR48 and a 20" Brute and they as a combo on large commercial are unbeatable!!!

John, I hear ya man, but I make my wife clean the pads and I can tell you, I am not making any points, if you know what I mean. That combo that you are using is almost like ours, Cimex and OP, but on large commercial jobs we may run a Cimex, OP, Bonnet, and CRB with a Steamin Demon if needed. Our goal is Get In, Get Clean and Get Out.
