Peroxide questions

November 30 2007 at 2:23 PM

Hello All,

I've been spiking my encap/pad juice with 4 oz of 40 vol(12%)per gallon. I really like the boost.

Can this damage pepsi tanks, brass fittings or jets?

If I leave the solution in a sealed pump up, is the peroxide still active 2 days later?

Thanks.

Jeremy

P.S. I have pressure relief valves on my tanks and this I don't use this mix on just anything.

Jeremy,

If you are spiking your detergent with peroxide, you are not gaining any real benefit. Peroxide requires an acid based environment to remain stable. Most carpet detergents, such as Releasit Encap-Clean, are at least slightly alkaline. Therefore, you will be killing the peroxide and losing the effectiveness of the peroxide. And any perceived advantage is coincidental since there isn't any effect of the peroxide in an alkaline detergent.

That being said, we are in the process of developing a peroxide based encap detergent. It is on the acid side. It has a special polymer that is compatible with peroxide. And it's a green product. Our initial impression of the tests we've done with the new formulation have been good. So stay tuned - this new product will be released fairly soon. it will be a cool addition to the Releasit family of products.

Rick,

How and when would one use that new product? How does it compare to Releasit?

On the Mikey's thing the other night you mentioned that alcohol and ammonia can be added. On commercial carpet, is this a good thing to do? It seems if the juice is cutting it faster, then production time would decrease.

Thanks for your quick responses on this board.

Jeremy

The new product is a "GREEN" detergent. It cleans well and can be used as a spotter - where colored stains are involved.

You can add alcohol or (clear ammonia - sparingly) to spike your juice. But this would be the exception. As a rule, our products have been carefully formulated to work, according to design, simply following the directions on the jug. If a carpet needs an extra "punch" - then pre-spray it with Encap-Punch, and then simply encap like normal (the results will typically be impressive).

I get concerned when I see people spiking a product with another product, the minute you do that you have created a new detergent and you better know what you have just created, both from how it will effect the carpet and more importantly from a health issue. One would hope you never have a problem and need to produce a MSD data sheet in a hurry! The manufacturer of all the products you have mixed will walk away from YOUR problem, Liabilty my fellow carpet cleaners, Liability in will be on your shoulders. If you want peroxide in your cleaning solution wait til you get one from Rick that is properly formulated

I applaud you for making a "green" encap. I'm sure if you're willing to put the releasit name on it that means it will work quite well. I'll keep my eyes peeled for further info.
