You'd have to kit me in the HEAD with a rock before I'd pay $700 for a 13 inch rotary.

I'm distracted at the moment. I'm watching the Alabama/Colorado bowl game, AND laughing at my wife and dog asleep in the recliner next to me. One of them is snoring, but I'm not sure which.

The Oreck Orbiter is a nice little machine (emphasis on little). I've owned one myself. It is a VERY LIGHT machine, and according to Oreck it's intended for household use. It can come in handy for small stuff. If you're looking for lighter weight household equipment, Koblenz also has a few lightweight household scrubbers for under $200. By comparison, the 13" Koblenz is a fairly stout machine, considering its diminutive size. Yet the lil Oreck Orbiter is handy too.

Heavy 13"

January 1 2008, 1:09 PM

I've got a Mercury Boss 175/300 rpm machine, with the interchangable aprons. I've used it in the 13" set up 3 or 4 times in the 5 or 6 years I've had it. It is a pretty heavy machine in the 13" size category. Also have a unicorn kit for adding additional weights when needed. It has came in handy, especially with the weight kit when stripping floors in some neglected restrooms. Also, like the flexibility it offers for running larger drivers. I think the VersaPro is a close relative. I probably should use my machine in the 13" capacity more often, sounds like a New year resolution is coming. Happy New Year to all.

i was fortunate to get a 20 in. koblenz from craig jasper a few months ago. he had it in his basement collecting dust. what a great machine.looks just like the 13 in. in the picture. boy is that thing heavy.makes the 15 in. cimex feel like a paper weight.lol
no wonder my backs been hurting.

i also have a 13 in. (not sure of the make) with nylon brushes for prescrubbing res.

all of my stuff is used but the koblenz. its a couple years old but was never used.

20"

We use that same 20” machine for powder polishing marble floors if it’s the 1.5hp unit. The only difference is we add a 40lb weight they have that sits down low around the base of the machine. Here’s a trick for you if you want to get that last inch and half or so along the baseboards. The shroud will unbolt from the bottom of the motor. When you do that you can then run any sized driver you want on the machine. What we do to avoid/reduce splashing and it allows us to run the driver continually against the base board is to use a splash guard made out of vinyl siding. It works very well and when it’s not in use or in transit the splash guard coils up around the motor. If you want to try it and you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
