cig smell

My State (Maryland) going smoke free feb 1. I've been hitting up some commercial places that have smokers with the idea of getting rid of the smoke smell. I pretty much use relisit and punch. Will these products encapsulate the smoke odors or should I use something else, and does the carpet need flushing to do this ( would rather cimex/relisit on everything that I can).

No it won;t IMHO

Smoke has very small micron makeup and is difficult to remove. I have found that Ozone works the best for us. Those of you that are old enough to remember Ed York, he came up with a ozone machine attached to the solution tank and a tube from it ran into the solution tank of a Cimex. It was made by Workmaster and I remember selling it to Jeff Brown from Alabama. What ever happened to Jeff anyways? I was never convinced that it deodorized the carpet that well. Cleaning the carpet and running an Ozone machine in the area you were working on for a couple of days seemed to do the trick. Some times I would place the Ozone machine in a return air duct on commercial bldgs. I could go on and on about the sucess we have had with smoke and Ozone. And no it won't hurt you.

Ray, just make sure that young whippersnapper pays for his lunch if he ever shows his snotty, freckled face in your neck of the woods looking for wisdom.

Flamin' old fogey !!!!!!

A word of caution, don't ozone if anything is wet.

Unless of course you want a bit of bleaching or corrosion.

But yep, the oldies have it right

Cheers,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways.

Smoke Smell

Bill,

Check out the major chemical suppliers and see what they have to offer on smoke which is used on restoration jobs.
S/M use to have a product called Odor-Go, which we poured into our cleaning solution and extracted. Some smokey smelling fabrics will require mora than 1 cleaning. Whether you use an encap product or not, I would suggest that you still would have to extract.
