Deamon owners/users

Del Scrivner

OK gang,

I am thinking about purchasing a Steamin Deamon.  I have a HWE portable and Rotovac already.

I am looking for time savings in open areas- apartment moveouts and open commercial areas that need flushing.

So here are my questions:

1)  Can I really get as good results with the Deamon as my heated porty and RotoVac?

2)  What, if any time/labor savings can I see?

3)  What model would you choose to run- Classic, XL-15 or XL20?  And what is the difference in the XL-15 and XL-20?

4)  Upsides of the Deamon?

5)  Downsides of the Deamon?

6)  Accesorries I should consider?

7)  Do you need to use defoamer with Punch?

8)  More questions based upon responses.

Thanks gang,

Make you own luck,

Del, SD is a great tool when you learn a few tricks with it(like always pre-vac) the difference b-tween the 15" and the XL20 is 5 inches and that is it, always buy the XL20. It is very light, hoses are a little heavy. Auto fill and auto dump will save lots of time. SD flushes a lot of water thru the carpet quickly, a porty does not. Vacuum is very powerful, a porty is not, you will not need much defoamer. You will need a uph. tool and maybe a floor tool for those tight corners. You will need an extra 50' hose set. hope this helps.

And, don't buy it unless you buy a glide for it.

It is a great cleaning machine - probably removes more dirt than most other cleaning units, period.

The downsides are poor maneuverability.
It's really tough to do stairs with, but Shorty will find a way.

You should get the hand-tool accessory.
It's too good a cleaner on really dirty carpet - it removes so much dirt so fast that the little tiny filter gets bunged up and it will take you as long to clean out as it will to clean the next few feet of carpet before you have to stop again.

Oh and it's Steamin Demon.

Tony, is that the way you spell Steamin Demon up there? Marty, only Girly Men need a glide, Real Men just push the light weight machine.

I WILL find a way............

"Shorty will find a way to do stairs"

This I will Tony, as soon as you send me down that unit you offered me back in Vegas

IF I had a Steamin Demon, I think I would probably pre scrub each tread and riser with my Makita.

Then I would extract with the Demon, using the new wide 5" DriMaster upholstery tool, or even a 7" stair tool which I would probably convert to use with no trigger and an enclosed jet or two.

Guess I'm going to have to buy a second hand Demon and replace the electricals with 220/240 volt running gear.

Cheers,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways.

If you own a Classic doing stairs can be a pain to set up but owning a XL stairs are just as easy as any HWE set up.

Always prespray and scrub and you will not have problems.
I use my CBM to scrub the steps also.

One down side of the Steamin Demon is on really soiled carpets the machine actually flushes so much soil that the carpet often drys looking like h---, and you need to go back and do a surface clean, this may not be a bad thing, but be prepared it will happen when you disturb the deep down embedded soils

I have an XL-15. On this model a glide is a must.
Without it you cannot push it - only pull it.
It makes it a lot easier to do extra vacuum strokes.
The hoses are an under feet hassle.
Buy extra filter bags if you go with an XL. The filter bag is difficult to clean.
On filthy, greasy carpeting have something to mechanically aggitate prespray.
I used to do apartments. A lot of 3rd floor, lots of steps. After I bought the SD I sold my heated porty.
The porty weight was 90lbs. The SD 35lbs.
