| I just sold an addition to one of my large commercial accounts last week. The additional work will take an already burdensome account up to the size that I simply won't be able to handle all by myself. It came at the right time, as things seem to do, because I have a new son-in-law who wants to start working for me. This will allow me to hire him part-time and give him, and me, a chance to see if either of us can stand being around each other long enough to get any work done ... LOL.
Anyway, I suspect I'm going to have to get a second machine before long, because giving him access to my Defender will probably be too inconvenient and hard to coordinate. So, I've got to make a decision on what to buy. My first reaction is to purchase another Defender. The machine has worked out well for me; however, I'm open to other options and the Cimex is one option.
The "problem" I have with the Cimex is two fold. First, I "ran one" briefly in Pensacola a few years back, and while I never said anything to Rick about it, I had a hard time running it. Rick turned it over to me while it was running close to a wall. Immediately after I took control of the machine, it moved a few inches over to the wall and continued to hug the wall for the entire time I ran it, which was only a few seconds. I couldn't get it off the wall. Is it hard to control?
The second "problem" I have with the Cimex is all the reports I get that it leaves semi-permanent marks in commercial carpet. Is this true, and what do you do about them? |

my apologies to your future son-in-law.
yes it is easy to maneuver...along a wall it is easier for me to maneuver my Cimex versus my Challenger. along a wall you just: walk.
no permanent marks. on a plush-type carpet, which some commercial establishments have, it will leave a swirl mark. when you are new to Cimex'ing this can really be a mental block. in time you find that your clients 99 out of 100 will not comment on them. the 1 out of 100, from my experience, comments positively on the marks. if you leave them be, these are removed in a few days with foot traffic. if you cant get past the mental block, use a broom and brush them out while still wet/damp. something i think i might have tried once 4 years ago when i 1st started with the Cimex...glad i got over the block quickly. like wand marks, it leaves a signature that it was freshly cleaned.
thanx --- Derek. |

I have a Defender and a Cimex. They are both so easy to work with. You won't have any problem with a Cimex.
Very few level loops will show any pile marks. When we do cut pile with the Cimex we either post vacuum or brush the pile.
We find the OP does some things the Cimex doesn't and vice versa. I like having both. For productivity, you can't beat a Cimex. Following the Cimex with the Defender is very effective. I also like having a GLS for some situations.

Marty, call me direct @404.849.2724, I have all of the above mentioned machines plus some others. I have been involved with Cimexes for the last 13 years. Also remember that I am, in your words, "a snake oil salesman" and we just got a new shipment of venom in and it's moving fast! |

Marty... between this explanation regarding your test run of a cimex and you experience with a RV 360,I would say that your problems lie within the bounds of operator error!
You're on the right site, now order a "mex" ....right now!

When Cimexing commercial plush you need thesoft bristle brush heads. I did one this last Saturday. Had my friends son vacuum. Done in 30 minutes. This was empty offices, like 4 of them not too big and reception area. Worth $225.00. Not bad! |

OK, what is a defender? I assume it is not a really cool video game from the 80's.

Are you actually prepared to pay real cash, dollar money for this new ( or let me guess, used ! ) machine ??
Or will this be on the never, never loan payment plan??
Cimex on a dry carpet is hard to handle - you will also have to be prepared to buy an actual encap product over and over again for cash, money to spray on the carpet to lubricate it.

The Defender is an OP machine made by Orbitec. It's the one with the guiding wheels on it to keep it from tracking with the nap lay of the carpet pile.
Seeing that owning a Cimex is the one common denominator between all of you buttwads, in an effort to keep my pleasing personality I may need to avoid the purchase! |

Do you still have your GLS?
Get another Defender, your looking at adding employees. Keep your systems standardized. |
