Tuway question again...

March 2 2008 at 10:12 PM

Joe DeSouza

Might sound silly, but how do I wash these? Do I use laundry detergent then bleach in the rinse cycle, and just throw them in the dryer?

Why I ask is that i've already destroyed some cotton pads by drying them out too much in the dryer...dont want to do the same thing to these - thanks!

The Tuways are more launder-able than cotton pads are. You can wash them with bleach. Bonnets and pads last longer when they are line dried.

Clothes Lines in Florida

March 3 2008, 8:38 AM

LOL Rick, Does Nancy have a clothes line? What we do is place them in a 5 gal. bucket with a lid (white ones from Lowe's) on it and they are good for a week, we run them thru the rinse and spin cycle and take them out of the washer while they are still damp) no need to re-wet them, just use them right out of the bucket. Saves time too.

LOL Ray we live in a condo on Tampa Bay. I don't think the association would let us hang a clothes line from our balcony. Prob'ly wouldn't go over too well. However, line drying or natural drying can be done anywhere, even indoors, like inside the laundry room.

Your bucket idea works very well too. Providing you'll be using the bonnets/pads in the next day or two. However, if you aren't planning to use the bonnets soon, you should dry the pads. Dry them flat or hang them to dry. You could also put them in the dryer for a few minutes and pull them out before they're 100% dry.

Smell

March 3 2008, 9:33 AM

If you leave them damp in a bucket, they start to smell after a while. I always dry mine.

If you can't clean and store them the way Ray advises without them starting to smell, then you need to get off your butt and get some more volume.

Cuz your pads shouldn't smell between uses.

a good fitting lid

Of course you need several buckets with air tight lids, they come that way from Lowe's, but you are going to spend another 1.00 for them. I have had them in buckets for two weeks w/o any odor. Of course I had the lids on tight.

I use 2oz of heavy duty liquid detergent plus 1/2 cup bleach.
I was them at a laundry-mat when nobody is looking.
