Steamin Demon w/ Water Claw

A few of you guys posted about using this setup. What size claw do you use?
I tried the medium claw and didn't seem to get good suction.
The 20' hose from the sd kept unplugging from the claw, a sign of not enough vacuum.
Tried extracting a 4x4 area of apartment cut pile. Inspected the pad, and it was still very wet.

The instructions say

NOT to use anything but the smaller claws with porty's.

The demon might work well with the spotter or the economy small but likely not anything bigger.
