Are six heads better then three?

Hey Rick, was going through my installation magazine the other day and came across a very interesting ad. I checked out the website and found that this company had developed a baseplate for a 175/300 floor machine that has 6 counter rotating smaller heads on it. If a cimex with three heads is superior to a single disk 175, I wonder what a machine with 6 smaller heads would do? At what point do the size of the heads become to small and start to cause issues with pile disortion? Thought everybody would be interested in seeing this ad though.

An interesting concept. I suppose it would come down to how smoothly it can operate on carpet. Carpet has more resistance than a smooth floor. I'm thinking the 6 small heads may run pretty roughly on carpet.

that head is made for doing concrete, marble and other stone floors if it is the one I am thinking of. I doubt it would work for carpet, but I bet once could be made for carpeting.

I'm thinking you would still have to use it as a buffer, side to side. I doubt you could use it like the Cimex. Just my .02.

I used One

I used one of those on a couple of jobs with a buddy. One was concrete and the other was marble. That thing tore us up. We both use rotary and floor buffers a lot so we know how to use them. He's an ex marine and strong as an ox and he was fighting it like crazy. in the middle of the marble job he ordered the Diamond Cimex. Which was available locally and he picked it up before we finished the job. I tried to talk him into going with Rick but the ability to pick it up and use it today was key. And I must admit my back was grateful.

It would seem to me that if the Cimex was patented unless it is a VERY specific patent (like saying only 3 heads) that that may be considered a patent infringement.

Just ask the folks at Chem-Dry/Harris Research they seem to have a VERY broad patent.
