dropped Cimex

April 12 2008 at 9:35 PM
Tim

My ramp slipped off the bumper of my van as I was loading it in after my last job on Wednesday. Needless to say I and my Cimex landed on the driveway. The handle of the machine punched me in the leg.
Now my leg is several shades of black & blue. The Machine has a dent in the front. Its on the front of the metal housing behind the rubber bumper.
With my leg racked up I have not been able to check it out to see if there is any more damage. Anyone have any suggestion as to what else I should check out that may be damaged?

Thanks!

Glad to hear you are ok there Tim. You escaped a truly dangerous incident. Could of been a Cimex handle to the eyeball.

I bought a 1971 chevy van. It has rust spots here and there. And has just a couple of dings, and its paint is oxidation. You can't help but notice these things but when you concider the age of the truck its not that bad looking. Ive always loved the 71 body.

But you may ask why by something thats old as poot dust? Well when you pull the engine cover you see a 327 engine with not a single leak and is tighter then a frog's...well, anyway. It will out run most of these new v-6's that requires smog and has tremendous get-up power. I love it its great to have as a project.

So with that, to answer your question about what to check out on your Mex, I would fire that bad boy up and make sure that that MOTOR is still running TIGHT if so then i wouldnt worry about the exterior dings. As long as that puppy still runs at 1200 s.f. per hour you may be able to live with it.
WHATA YOU THINK?

Get the dent fixed and make that Cimex look like new.

Or, you may one day find yourself reduced to driving a rusted up, 1971 van, and walking with a plumbers crack as you trademark.

Image is everything.

In other words what ADMIRALCLEAN is saying is roll up your Cimex with the dent fixed to your custy's doorstep and let them ADMIRE how CLEAN it looks .

Then when they ask you to demonstrate how it works just tell them you chose to fix the dent not the motor. LOL!!

My point is you can still make money with a dented Cimex and a running motor. The dent wouldn't be a priority.
In other words : "A LIVE DOG IS BETTER THAN A DEAD LION"

By the way, my Van will set me apart from other cleaners In a way that i will be referred to as the cc with the "old clean 71 van" who does an exellent job. Right now its my project. When done with it I may add it to my website. I'll post a photo at some point and get your opinion Mr. Admiralclean.

I honestly agree that APPEARANCE is almost everything. It doesn't matter if its a 71 or 2021 if its clean its clean.

The tank on the mex is only loose fitted with a u bracket at the top of the handle and a centering pin at the base of the tank. Any impact and the tank will jump up the handle. simple to fix just loosen the to bolts at the top of the tank and drop the tank back onto the pin. don't be tempted to just knock the tank back down as the pin will puncher the tank. been their done that!! you will know if the tank has move as the chemical will not feed.

Nope ... absolutely not. I never even mentioned the motor, so there is no rational way to imply that I was either promoting it's possible need of repair, or not. All you're doing is offering an amatuer attempt to divert attention away from something you consider a slight.

What I am attempting is to draw attention to the need for professional equipment and appearance not only for him, but for our industry as a whole. We have enough broke dick carpet cleaners running up and down the road using broken down, dented up equipment, and wearing dirty and non-professional uniforms, that we certaily don't want to encourage the creation of even ONE more.

Good grief, now I do think I've heard it all. Too bad the pig farmer can't apply this concept of professionalism to his posting style.

Good grief, Marty, trying to pull that stunt when you knew the
Lord of the Planetary's was down under viewing all manner of slithery eels, jelly fish and spiny urchins in the barrier reef, was beneath even you.....

Very disappointing........

Speaking of planetarys, do those ugly yellow Cimex machines come with variable speed options? The reason I ask is because I test "drove" one when I was a SFS. It was really slow.

Did they have it on like ... slooooow .... speed, or is there only one speed on those things?

Marty,
Since Ricks out of town I'll let you guys in on a secret. I overhead Rick say that there is a hidden sensor on the Cimex that is triggered by IQ. To prevent damaging the carpet the Cimex will dramatically slow down when used by someone with a lower IQ. You said it was going really slow. Exactly how slow was it going? Then again maybe it was a defective machine. I'll be at the JonDon in Atlanta next week doing a VAST class and will check it out.

Marty, I'd suggest that you stay well away from this guy - his vast intellect may just overwhelm all of your remaining synapses and his corn-fed mid-western humor will go right over your head.

You could be right Tony; however, it's so refreshing to argue with someone intelligent, that I'll take that chance.

You've become so boring ...
