The new Orbot OP machine from HOS Hruby

April 13 2008 at 5:22 PM

Rick Gelinas

I was on the phone with Jeff Hruby as we were at the airport in LA, about to head out for Australia. Jeff said, hey, I just left the airport. Jeff had just raced down to the airport to put the finished version of their new Orbot onto the plane for Australia. It looks as if the machine and I flew over together. At any rate, we got a good look at the new machine and had a chance to play with it at the show. And it is really nice. The rear wheels stay on the ground. And the handle folds up, making it very compact. The fit and finish are spot on! The new orbiter handled very smoothly too. It looks as if the bar for OP machines has been raised once again. It's kind of funny that I had to go to Australia to get a first look at a machine that's built in the US. Take a peek...

BTW We will be carrying the new Orbot machines just as soon as we can get our hands on them.

NICE SHOTS!

Talk about appearance. The Orbot is certain to impress customers. It looks to be very sturdy and strong. I love the blue color as well.

Will you be doing trade-ins Rick? lol
thanks for the photos

Thanks

Looks good. The handle will take some getting used to.

What's the price point on it?

I hope he rethought the wheel hub issue from the first model, I would have never bought that machine if I would have saw the way it was.

Will never buy another, I will go back to Challenger. That was a good machine.

Those handles are fantastic and are very comfortable to use!

When they get the sprayer up and running this will be one sweet machine.

Hey Phil,

Those are some complimentary expressions toward the Orbot - coming from a guy who customized his own scrubber to produce the only home made OP machine ever built in Australia.

It was nice to meet you at the Expo! I really appreciated our conversations. You've got a bunch of excellent ideas! I'm glad I got to meet you. Thanks for taking some time to talk.

Hi Joe,

Aside from the wheel well extending a little too far, the Vento is a killer OP machine. (The wheel well can catch when going over curbs or some steps.) So far everyone seems to be super pleased with these machines. But by all means, if you're not happy with it give me a holler.

Ain't it amazing how fast you can run when cleaning clean carpet?

I managed to snag one of the two proto Orbots

April 18 2008, 8:38 PM

I managed to hit Jeff up just at the right time. My HOS had a motor shaft issue and I was in need of a backup OP machine. So after talking with Jeff, he sold me one of the proto Orbots. Rick, I was one the phone with him just after he hung up with you. He was telling me that he had just sent an Orbot off to Austraila and was just leaving LAX.
I have to say "I LOVE THIS MACHINE"! Here are a few pics.

Jeff told me around $2200. Don't know if that is set in stone though.
