Butler customer service sucks!!May 2 2008 at 4:50 PM | iluvcarpet2 |
| I am wondering if anyone has a butler van. I love my van but their customer service sucks. They make you call them every time you have a question on how to fix or replace something. I just got off the phone with someone and asked why they dont have a repair manual and he was so rude! He told me thats the way it is. I just wanted to know if there was a way to adjust the belts on my machine. If I didn't love my van so much i would sell it. I wish they were as nice and informative as excellent supply. By the way i just ordered the may special of encap punch and some bonnet pads. Hey rick i found some of the cimex pads for a cheaper price. Are the pads not as good as yours and do you match prices. Thanks for all the help everyone and keep up the great work!! |

It sounds like you got a hold or a rep on a bad day I live about 6 miles from the factory and get products there a lot. I had a 85 Butler that ran till last month and they were always helpful to me.
I have emailed companies and never gotten a reply to requests
it happens.
There is a pull down chart that should show you what you need to do. I am mechanically retarded and I was able to fix most anything on the machine easily, the thing is all modular. |

I have 2001 butler van and i have all the manuals and the pull down chart. Its all good but it doesn't tell you how to fix items it tells you where they are but thats it. I am very mechanically incline but every time i have called them they have not been very nice. I just wish a van that cost 50 grand had a repair manual for it and i wish they gave red carpet treatment. Even if it cost 5 grand they should give good treatment. I have been treated great with excellent supply. I wish butler was just as good. They last person i spoke to told me they want people to have to come back to them thats why the dont have repair manuals. Thats to bad. |

I've used other pads when I first got my Cimex, they did not compare to Ricks. I find Ricks last longer and perform better giving me a better value for the dollar. |

Once, years ago, I had a technician that was really good. Only problem was he was very high strung and quick to go off. I heard him talking to one of my local suppliers one morning over the phone asking for a particular product that we needed that day. He became very angry and rude to the female sales lady from there because she said they were out of that product. I told him to hang on, let me have the phone. I nicely told the lady I understood the problem, apologized for his rudeness and aked how long before they had the product in stock again.
She told me they just happened to have one bottle left and I could come by and pick it up.
My employee was complaining as I got off the phone about how bad their customer service was. |

admiralclean its not my attitude because my life saying is to take life with a bag of salt not a grain. I have worked in the customer service field my whole life and have always found a way to treat customer with respect. Even when I am having a bad day i suck it up and try to help my customers in every way. I called butler up to ask them if the belts are adjustable and as I mentioned they dont have a repair manual so you have to call them about everything. I feel that was a very easy question to answer without an attitude. What It comes down to is that customer service its a thing of the past and I appreciate any company that Holds its customer service to the highest standards like excellent supply. Keep up the good work as i will with my customers service. |

I have always been under the impression that Butler is a top notch organization. I would think that if you can convey your dissatisfaction about your experience to them, I'd assume they'd be eager to correct the problem. I could be wrong, but I think they're that kind of company. I've always considered Butler to be one of the better TM companies out there.

Rick I love my butler van but I don't like they way they support their customers and their attitude. They make it so hard to get help without talking to them. There is no support on line or on their website. I have spoken to about 7 people and every person but 1 person had an attitude. Sorry 2 there is a nice lady that answers the phone when i call. haha. I wish they had a forum for customers and the had a repair manual. also I wish they just treated people like they cared. I have the items that they make for the van and I do have the diagrams for the van. I will admit they van is very well laid out. Treating people like they mean something goes a long way. |

Do your self a favor and ask for Tim at Butler and explain your situation.
Also post this on the red board. If you are talking about the belts that go to the blower and pump yes you can adjust the tension on them.

I did catch a hit of this attitude you speak of back when I was shopping for my next unit. I was speaking to a sales rep for them about the different options and what I wanted, etc., and I mentioned to Peter Seltzer (who was really pushing for me to get a Butler - Peter is a poster on the "red board") that the sales rep really didn't tell me a whole lot about specifics ... questions I was asking about performance issues. Peter placed a conference call to a man named Jack who Peter identified as the owner of Butler. This Jack dude seemed a little put out to be talking to a pig farmer and was very short and curt with his answers. Up to now, I just assumed he was tired of Peter and peeved that Peter had called him on his personal phone.
May be the liberal Mass., Yankee thing is for real and they all are affected with it. |

As David said call Tim if unhappy. I have a 2002 unit and have had nothing but great help from Butler. If you have a mechanical aptitude then you would see that the blower belts are self tensioning, no adjustment needed. The water pump belt is very easy to adjust. I have rebuilt the water pump and Butler sent me the diagram for it. There really is not much to fix. Most everything has Quick Connects. If you do not want to fool around with rebuilding the water pump they will sent you one, put it in. That simple. I had one of the techs on my cell phone for 35 minutes while we figured out why my auto pump out was not working properly. Ended up a bad connection. Simple fix, finding it was another story. No bad attitude with that fellow. If you need a manual for the water pump go to the CAT site look it up. Same with the blower. You can even find the unloader on the net also. All wireing diagrams are very easily understood. I have found that these guys will always go the extra mile, 2 if needed to help a guy out. Might just want to try them again. Pretty simple machine to maintain and fix.

I have seen a couple of comments about Butler's customer service(or lack there of) on a few other boards. They all seem to say roughly the same thing. They like there truck but customer service is frustrating. |
