| Anyone ever do business with Ray Moody aka (Rambo)?May 13 2008 at 6:39 AM |

| Here's the dilemma i have. I purchased the Cimex from Ray that was advertised for sale on this board and mikeysboard.com.
It stated in the post that the unit was in excellent condition and one case of Encap Punch was included with the sale. On April 12, 2008 I had a verbal conversation with Ray regarding the shipping of the unit. Ray got back to me the following Monday April 14, 2008 with the price for the shipping $691.00 for FedEx Three Day Air. I agreed to purchase the Cimex for the $1,490.00 plus $691.00 for shipping. I sent the Bank Check on April 15, 2008 per the deal we made.
On April 18, 2008 I received a email from Ray;
"We shipped the Cimex today. I will not have a tracking number until
Monday and will call you with it then. They gave me approximately 8 days
for delivery. 3 day delivery was $1187.00 (hiway robbery) I will explain
all the things FedEx scrwed up on, when I talk to you on Monday, but
everything is OK now. Thanks Nate. Ray Moody"
I responded the same day;
"Thanks for the update. I find that hard to believe to be $691.00 for 3 days let alone $1187.00..
When i ask for a shipping price from www.excellent-supply.com, this is the reply regarding shipping a Cimex to my address listed.
Hi Nate,
Sorry for the delay. Cimex has been really busy and has not been able
to get
a figure over to me for shipping a Cimex package until now.
FedEx charges for shipping a Cimex machine to the address listed would
be
$315. To send the pads USPS (the cheapest alternative) would be $15.
We would be happy to cover $175 of those charges. The remainder of the
charges would be $155.
Let me know if you would like to get a package ordered.
I look forward to helping you soon.
Sincerely,
Beth Montlary

There's nothing i can do about it now. I would have ordered it from excellent-supply, if i was inform of the mix up on FedEx side.."
Well, the following Monday April 21, 2008 I didn't receive a call as stated in the email.
On Wednesday April 23,2008 I get a email from Ray;
"Nate, here is the FedEx tracking number 157443948-4"
So I wait for the machine to arrive. On May 2, 2008 I get a call from the shipping company telling me that they need to setup a delivery time. I was all excited to try out the new machine. I took delivery of the machine and started to open the crate.
Upon opening the crate, I was disappointed to no case of solution and the ball valve was broken. I emailed Ray the following;
"Dear Ray Moody,
I received the Cimex machine today May 2, 2008 (6 days later than you stated). I was disappointed to find the ball valve is inoperable and no case of Encap Punch (as per the ad, in both cleaning forums). The machine was represented to be in excellent condition and included one case of Encap Punch. Compound these findings with the following discrepancies.
1. Your initial FedEx freight (Verbal) quote of $691.00 for 3 day shipping versus the $315 FedEx quote from excellent-supply.com, a Florida based company.
2. You didn't follow up on Monday, April 21, to explain as promised in your April 18 email.
3. Once the terms of the shipping changed, I should have been given the opportunity to make the decision to complete the transaction. You took the responsibility when you made the decision that was not yours to make.
You can understand my dissatisfaction on how you handled this transaction. I'm putting all judgments and opinions aside until I receive a response concerning this matter.
Respectfully,
Nate Whittington"
To date May 13, 2008 I have not received a response from Ray regarding this matter.
Did anyone else have a problem with Ray Moody past or present, did it ever get resolved?
P.S. I really regret not ordering from excellent-supply.com. My next orders are going straight to Rick.

It is possible that excellent supply gets a better deal from FedEx because they use them every day and have negotiated contract pricing.
Sorry to hear about your negative experience.
A 19” Cimex machine is a heavy unit to ship; personally I would only trust a dealer to handle such a transaction

Nate,
I can only vouch for Ray from my personal experience with him. Ray Moody (Rambo) has always presented himself in an honest manner in any dealings I have had with him.
It sounds like the discrepancy came from Ray's transaction with FedEx freight. It sounds like FedEx raped you guys! The reason our freight rates are lower is on account of the volume of machines shipped. Shipping companies provide discounted rates when you're moving a higher number of pieces each month. Often times the discount rates are significant.
My guess is that Ray will take the opportunity to make it right to you, even if it means biting the bullet. At least that is the way I perceive Ray would want to handle things, based on his reputation.
Nate I wish you could have communicated with Ray, rather than bringing this out on a public forum. It's always better to handle private matters privately, whenever that's possible.
It sounds like there may have been a breakdown in communication here. Good communication is important. Talk to Ray and I'd assume he will do whatever it takes to make you happy.

See Ray?
I told you to sell that thing to me.
Payments would have been better than this.
Plus, I would have just called to cuss you out instead of whining on the boards.
You big ...er ... short dummy! |

I appreciate the response from Ray and others. The shipping I could care less about. It's the fact that if you say Excellent Condition without looking the machine over. Also, the Fact that is being over looked is when the terms changed, it wasn't your decision to make.
I've tried to contact him via PM and email with no response. The reason I was contacting him via PM and Email is to have Facts.
I appologize to have put this on a public forum, but it's the only way I got a response.

| I THOUGHT I BOUGHT THAT MACHINE | May 13 2008, 1:35 PM |
I had some really nice discussions with Ray the evening that he posted the machine for sale. We also talked the following day. When I talked to him the second time he said others had called, but because I had called first, I had first chance. I called him and finalized everything. On Thurs he called me to tell me that he could ship the machine to me for $145 and that he would split the cost. Gave me a total price of $1565 delivered. I went that afternoon & got a cashiers check and mailed it. I also emailed a copy of iT to him. He sad that if I emailed a copy of it he would ship the machine while the check was in route. I called to tell him it was in the mail and he said he was building the pallet as we spoke, it would be shipped the following day. He told me what freight lines and where to pick it up. I waited and called the freight line the day it was supposed to arrive and agian on the following day. Then I reciedved an email from him appologizing but saying the machine was no longer for sale. I called him that afternoon he said something had come up and they would not be selling the machine. That he had been happy with the deal we had made but he could no longer sell the machine. My wife said "I bet he found someone who would pay more" but I stuck up for him. He I told her he seemed like a real stand-up guy. Was I wrong???????????? |

One of the unique features of this forum has been it focus on carpet cleaning. Lets keep it that way. |

By all means lets ignore that we have a shyster in our midst and pretend it all goes away.
Perhaps if we spray Ray with some double strength Releasit his BS won't reflect in the light. |

Mike I don't know that Ray is a shyster. On the other hand, there's no way for any of us to know for certain that he isn't. My gut feeling says that he wouldn't intentionally take advantage of Nate. I certainly hope he wouldn't! Ray has always appeared to be an upright guy whenever I've spoken with him. As you know, there's always two sides to every story. And there's no way of knowing for sure exactly what the situation is here. I certainly hope that Ray hasn't taken advantage of Nate. That would be very uncool and I'd be disappointed if it turned out that way. But since this matter is between Nate and Ray, I think the prudent thing would be for us to keep our noses out of this. I for one hope this whole thing gets resolved equitably and quickly. I really don't want to see this kind of thing getting dragged out on this forum.

Nate would have been better off buying a new one from Jon Don. Better service and they will match anybodys price. Better yet he should have just bought one of Clarks machines. They actually remove soil.

Waldo, ordering one from Jon-Don?! WHY?! Do you think that they would give the same great advice as Rick does? Do you think that they will actually spend a half an hour - 45 min talking to you personally on the phone in the evening like rick does? It's not ALL about price, it's also about having an ongoing relationship with your supplier who is willing to bend over backwards to help you...and to top it off, rick has the best encap juice and supplies available, I can vouch for this myself, and so have hundreds of others over the past years. I like jon-don, I do buy my residential cleaning supplies from them, but when it comes to commercial, NOBODY knows as much as rick does.

Talking over the phone to Rick is like reading a Steve Toburen post. PS and all!
I never call. |
