Dirty Greasy Apartment

June 19 2008 at 9:28 PM
Mr. Amazing

I got a call the other day from a property manager I clean for. He said he has an apartment with carpet he's going to have to replace but he wanted me to take a look at it first. According to him the previous residents cooked with a ton of grease. After walking in the apartment the bottoms of his shoes were coated with grease. He was sure I couldnt clean them but he wanted me to look at them.

You know where this is going.

2 bedroom apt every room coated, like he said, in grease, it was gross. I told him to let me try, if I cant get it clean I wont charge him.

I first pre sprayed with punch, quite a bit.

Cimexed each room 2-3 times with fiber plus pads (9 pads in all)

Then op'd the whole thing with about 10 (disgustingly gross)bonnets. 4 hours later you could eat off them (Not that you'd want to). I wanted to take pic's but the carpet was dark and you dont get a real appreciation for it unless you can feel the grease.

He called me today to say thanks. I saved him $1000 in new carpet. He said "If anyone I know ever asks about carpet cleaning you are the man".

They dont call me Mr. Amazing for nothing. Little do they know how easy this is. Thanks Rick.

That's awesome. Well done.
I guess you are "Mr. Amazing"

Talk about OILY carpet --- take a look at this account that we heard from a cleaner in Australia. We heard this experience when we were down there a couple of months ago...

Here is where I think I am going wrong. I had great success with my cimex and ds on commercial but I have not had good success with encap punch and hwe on residential. Everyone that has had amazing results have used their cimex with pad and hwe or just their cimex on residential. How does everyone get their cimex around. I have the 19 inch cimex and its so heavy. I have to have my brother help me lift it in my van. I just bought ramps for it but how do you get it up and down stairs in a house? I would like to use it more for residential.

Lift weights. No just kidding. this is a good question. I know that a couple of people on the board have changed there wheels to bigger ones to make it easier to get up the stairs. Me i just squat and lift. I am fairly certain that i will hurt meself one day.

Dear iluvcarpet2,

Your dissatisfaction with Encap-Punch is out of harmony with what we hear about the product on a daily basis. We sell a LOT of Punch for "residential" HWE usage. And folks really like it a lot! It cleans extremely well and it enjoys the added benefit of bringing encapsulation to the HWE platform. Plus it's CRI approved. I don't think our Encap-Punch customers would keep buying it from us, in increasing measure, if it weren't working well for them. So it seems odd that you didn't find that it works as well as you'd like it to. Simply cleaning according to the directions on the jug works very well with Encap-Punch. Agitation of the carpet fiber is a recommended part of the IICRC cleaning standard for HWE cleaning, and agitation will amplify the results of any HWE detergent (it's part of the "TACT cleaning pie"). However, using a Cimex to pre-scrub with Punch is NOT necessary. The bottom line is that we're here to satisfy our customers. And if you're not satisfied with Punch - I will gladly authorize a refund for you. Just give us a call at 1-800-330-1888. We want you to be happy.

Mr. Amazing

Here is what I do

June 20 2008, 11:03 AM

I struggled like hell getting the cimex up stairs. So I decided to use the cimex on first floor jobs and my op if I have to go upstairs. I do work out on a regular basis though it makes things easier.

I didnt have too much success at first with punch, then I realized I wasnt mixing it strong enough. Now a good strong mixture of punch, 5-7 min dwell time, then cimex it with encap ds and fiber plus pads and I am telling there is not much I cant get out.

It took me some tweaking at first, now I got it down.
