First time using cimex on Residential

Today was the first time I used my cimex on residential carpet. One room was berber and the others were saxony. I Pre sprayed with encap punch and then used the cimex with ds and can I say woooooooooooooooooooooooooow. The berber carpet looked new and the living room carpet also looked new. A lot of the spots come up and it also fluffed the carpet pile. The customer said she wanted to move back in because it smelled and looked so good. The only problem was I had to move the machine up 13 stairs and I almost killed myself. I didn't have my brother there to help me. Never again on a two story. There where a couple of spots that didn't come up but you could tell that they where there a long time. One of the rooms had tons of paint on the carpet and I could of got it up with a lot of time. The customer told me not to worry about the paint by the walls. I wish the machine wasn't so heavy because I would use it on every job. Also Thanks rick for taking the time to talk to me and giving me great ideas.

Duct tape had one use for it when it first came out too.
Cimex hay not have been inteded for residential, but man it works good.

And about those stairs, wait til you put too much weight forward and go tumbling down the stairs. Not happened yet but came close a few times.

Glad you like the Cimex.

However, I would highly recommend getting a lighter machine to carry up the stairs. A crb or a smaller OP unit would be perfect. Get a used host machine off ebay if money is an issue (when is it not?).

Duct tape and carpet cleaning Don't get the connection all I know after 40 years of cleaning carpets is this. If I had to clean residential carpets with a Cimex machine I would get out of the business. Cimex is best suited for commercial carpet and that is my opinion and I will never change it.

I think the duct tape reference was along the lines of the world used to be flat. And the Earth used to be the center of the universe and ........ Many things that start out good for one thing are found to beneficial for other things also.
Personally If I could get myself to feel comfortable with Cimex on residential carpet I would be all over it. Would be happy to get rid of the carpet van and extractor. Except for the fact that especially on residential every 2 or 3 time would still need to hot water extract.

what do you use?

what do you use for resi? And why would you get out of the business if you had to use cimex for resi? After 40 years of cleaning without it I'm not trying to talk you into using it, just curious.

First of all we own and use 3 Cimex's for commercial carpet maintenance work. For residential we use truckmounted extraction units. The truck units are faster and better when it comes to residential cleaning. We try not to do restorative cleaning with a maintenance system and a Cimex is a maintenance system best suited for low profile commercial carpets. I know many will argue that I am full of crap, but that is how I feel. I did try cleaning a few empty residential units with the Cimex, but it was a way to slow in small places and the results did not meet our standards. End of the story
