Need help, please!

July 17 2008 at 6:48 PM

Joe DeSouza

Need help with pricing out a quote...A big construction co. called me today looking for a quote on some post-renovation clean up of some condos they're redoing...he said all they want is a quote for 2 guys - one to vacuum carpets with a back-pack vac (no HWE) and the other to hit mirrors, and some horizontal surfaces with a spray bottle & rags...basically to remove dust. He estimated 15 minutes per condo, around 100 condos to do...I figured it would be maybe $30 per man hour = $15 per condo...

Does that sound about right? never got a call like this or did post-construction cleanup, so I need some help quoting...calling him tomorrow morning

Thanks for your help!!!

Joe

PS this is a HUGE international company that I would love to get some work from, so I dont want to blow it!

Joe, it doesn't sound like they are too concerned with cleanliness. So in my opinion your bid is pretty close.

Close enough

My favorite question to ask them

What is in your budget with this. They will tell you. This gives you something to work with, remember there is wiggle room . I usually shoot back with something if you could spend for X amount for the project and we guarantee the project be finished on time would we have an agreement. Many times it works.

WE do floor clean ups ( concrete ) for new construction for a few companies one always hires us even though we are a bit higher then everyone else because the project manager knows he can get us in with in 24 hours, the job will be done rite so the floors pass inspection.
