| I have a gig coming up that involves about 300sqft of tile that they want striped & waxed, no problem doing it, but, it's been a while since I've priced it out. What do you guys charge per sqft on something like this. I'm in the D.C. area by the way.

If this is a grouted tile floor, it is not recommended that you strip and wax it, unless someone before you has already ruined the tile or natural stone floor by waxing it. To test the floor take an acid cleaner like Stonetech Restore and an eye dropper. In a non noticeable area place a drop in the grout and the tile. If it bubbles, use the recommended processes for cleaning the tile. I use up to a 6 step process using a scrubber, high alkaline cleaners, high pressure rinse (900 + psi) then if need be acid cleaner, high pressure rinse and then apply the sealer (not wax!!).
Again, the worst possible thing you can do to a tile or nature stone floor is to apply wax. The reason is because it will never come out of the grout lines and it will look spotty and dirty from then on. I personally walk away for those applications because the customer is never happy. The only solution is to keep waxing and in some point in time they will have to tear out the floor because of the wax build up and the dirty appearance of the floor. Not a win, win situation and I certainly don't want to pay for someone else's mistake. |

If you can fit it in while in the building and cleaning other parts that makes life easier. I would charge $200 (my min charge to do VCT) This is if the floor is not that hammered.

I charge min .50c sqft for VCT
for only 300 sqft you need to move that to about .65c to make any money.
for .50c sqft and up it is 2 base coats and 2 top coats,
extra top coats are more price.
I also charge up to about .70c sqft, no that being said, for very large areas, you drop the price because there is not much more time for 750sqft than for 350sqft.
unless it is a bundle, then bundles are a bit less say from .25-40c sqft/bundles are for carpet and VCT and Jani work (yes we vacuum regularily, like a carpet cleaning company not maid service)
