Steamin Demon with Hose Reel Questions

July 28 2008 at 9:00 PM
Thomas Owens

Hello fellow encappers!

I presently have a steamin demon classic with around 100 total feet of hose. However, I have recently come across some places where I will need upwards of 200 feet.

That brings in the hose reel. Anybody have experience using them? Sounds to me like it should help with the long runs. Any thing I need to worry about when using the hose reels?

By the way, I have the second discharge pump already installed, so I know it should easily do 200 to 300 feet.

Thanks.

Are you looking to hook them up live or just have the hoses you have now on a reel?

I was looking to have new hose, maybe 200 feet of each. From what I understand you need a hose reel for each (solution and discharge). So I guess that would mean live.

I have two 50 foot segments of combo hose, but will only add them if needed. probably put them before the reel, connected to the faucet and down the drain.

I have not used the reels, been tempted several times but do not run lengths that long enough to warrant it.

If it were me I would get 200 feet of hoses for the reels and hook them up to the first 50 that comes with your machine.

put the reels close to the water source and work away from the water source and let the hoses peel off by them selfs.

I just seen the reels I want to use at harbor freight and either Lowes or Home Depot. Steel will hold a lot of hose and have four wheels like a buggy.

the others are very similar

Thanks David.

I contacted Steamin Demon, and they no longer make hose reels.

However, as you pointed out, they can be purchased from other places.

They seem to all run around $100 or so each. Would need 2.

I'm going to need a bigger van!

I know what you mean I need more room also
the reason I pointed you in that direction was I know Demon company carries them that and I like the once you can get else where better, they are also less expensive.

I just found one at Lowe's. Looks perfect.

The website says they have them in stock here.

Hopefully they also carry 200' of 3/8" hose and the discharge size hose. Is that hose 1/2" or 5/8"? Or does it matter?

If it were me I would call who every you purchased your machine from (unless private sale) and order up 200 continues feet of each hose you need. They will know what you need

I actually got it second hand.

I went to Lowe's and I think they have everything there. They have the two hose reels, they have 3/8" hose sold by the foot, and they have a very nice, dark gray garden hose that's sold by 100'. Kink free, but light. Plus they have all the fittings.

Home depot sells some very nice water shut-offs as well as quick disconnects.

I think I am set.

I would imagine it's between the Orbot and the Cimex?

You would be correct, those and or another rotary with a spraying system similar to the Orbot.

I am leaning to the Orbot it is similar to what I am used to and I believe my sons would have an easier time running it, I would be so far off though. One thing is the Orbot folds up so sweet it would save a lot of space something I do not have a lot of in my vans now.

Wish I could play with both to make a decision, but then I might wind up with both

I am glad you were able to get the hose situation figured out. Sorry I wasn't much help in finding one for you when you called in. But as far as wanting to save room on your trucks, check out this Pic!!!!
