We use the Cimex/Releasit combo on wool rugs. The thing with wool is that it stays wet longer than a synthetic carpet so make sure to bring fans to get it dry fast.

Kevin, what pads do you use with the Cimex on wool? and do you have any fuzzing issues?

The Cimex/Releasit combo is perfect for wool. On commercial wool (such as in the hotel) use FiberPlus pads. On wool rugs i.e. oriental, use the soft 4807 shampoo brushes. Down in Australia, where they have LOTS OF WOOL, Releasit is extremely popular, as its pH is safe for wool. And the Cimex with FiberPlus pads is very common in Australia too. You'll find the Cimex and Releasit is a trouble free way to safely clean wool.

P.S. Some wool may not be colorfast, so it's always wise to test an inconspicuous spot to see if bright colors might bleed before you use ANY cleaning method on wool.

FPP are ok for wool, and unless it's new, you shouldn't get any fuzzing from it.

Also, remember that wool will absorb twice as much detergent so don't skimp on it. If you do, a) you won't get it uniformly clean, and b) you WILL promote fuzzing and possibly c) you'll have a cow of a job grooming any marks... but most don't do that but if it was me, for a ballroom, I would.

Are you taking their word for it?

Are you just taking their word for it that it is wool or did you test it for yourself?

AND as Rick said did you test for colorfastness by using the same chemicals you would use to clean it with?

In New Zealand they know how to clean wool, it's in their blood!

Yes Jeff, Encap-Clean DS is SAFE for all colorfast wool.

Even a dumb redneck like me would never question a New Zealender about wool.

LOL

You may be a redneck.

But you're not dumb!

I guess that was my mistake.
Sorry I misunderstood.

I own a set of brushes for the Cimex but rarely use them. Most of the time on wool we use the Cimex / Releasit Encap-Clean DS and pads. Occassionally we will get some wool fuzz on the pads but it generally does not fuzz a wool rug.

You do have to test for colorfastness with anything you use to clean wool but it generally is not a problem.
