| I got myself up early today, kicked myself in the rear end (read jeff Gitomer's little red book, page 32, principle #1, and you'll know what I mean!) and drove around for about 3 hrs zipping back & forth between some big class A buildings and getting contact information. I'm determined to get more commercial work!
I did land a decent 13,000 foot job yesterday scheduled for next week, so I think that's what is driving me to get more - plus I'm REALLY getting sick of residential, to be honest with you. I'd rather make $150 an hour pushing my cimex than making $75 - $100 per hour zipping back and forth all day and having to pull hose. and most of my work is high-end, by the way, so it's not that the work is low paying or crappy...It's getting real old, real fast...and then to drain the tank after doing some smelly urine / feces jobs in 90 degree weather! Oh, the horror....

Sorry about the rambling, but i'm stoked! |

Hey joe what did you get for the 13000 ft account. I been trying to get some more commercial accounts. I landed one but only for 240.00. They only want to do it once a year. I tried to get an account for a medical place for 7000 sqft for .16 a foot. They thought I was to much. What price are you charging them. I still do residential work. I did a job the other day with my cimex and got 170.00 for 1 1/2 hrs of work. I also cleaned another house and made 210 in 2 hrs. Both with my cimex.I need to get out there and do some more leg work. I have a chance to get a vct job for 300 a month for 5 places. The down fall is they want it done once a week and will only pay 300 a month for all the work. not to good. |

I'd rather not post what I charged due to lurkers, but basically I figured around .10 - .15 depending on the areas, i.e around cubicles I charge around the high end of the spectrum, but in open areas around the low end...in response to your pricing - 16 cents a foot seems ok, but it seems to me my competition is lowering their prices to get work - I know this because I bid on a job for a friend of mine (he's a facilities manager) and he told me that I beat out the last guy by ONLY 1% - 1.5% and the last guy HWE!! And I bid pretty low...!
BTW, I dont cimex homes any more - I did that for a while w/ berber carpets, but got complaints about the carpet looking dingy after about 3 weeks...I think cimex / encap is more particularly suited for commercial grade carpets. What I do now for berber is HWE, then post pad with my low-boy...MUCH better results! If spots do come back, though, THEN and only then will I pull out the cimex...
