Restaurant Question...

August 23 2008 at 8:43 PM

Joe DeSouza

A Golden Corral restaurant / buffet called me wanting a quote for a maintenance plan - going monday to measure it up...2 questions:

1) What is a good frequency for cleaning? this place is busy! - BTW, it just opened 2 weeks ago so carpet is still pretty good....

2) What kind of square foot pricing is the average for these types of restaurants? I want to alternate HWE with Encapsulation...

Thanks!

Joe

I'm just saying what they'll likely be wiling to pay in Florida.

Restaurants are NOT generally worth pursuing.

Two ways I would bid the job actually three

By the sq ft estimating the amount of time it will take me to do the job, and area pricing. Areas pricing meaning I will also give them a price for only doing certain areas if they need only those done.

From experience ,contrary to what a bunch of others say at ICS board, you can encap resturants if they are done frequent enough.Yes you will have to HWE frome time to time and in certain areas.
With the resturants we have been doing for several years now, the only places that gets HWE most every time are the walk off areas by the kitchen.
This may have been fixed by me doing the T&G in the kitchens and surrounding areas. I also showed the managers a better placement strategy for the walk off mats.

Moving tables and chairs its the biggest time waster so try to get that down to a minimum.

Once you get a system in place for doing things you can fly.

Restaurants absolutely SUCK! We only do 3 now and they pay really good. Two of them are done quarterly and one is done monthly. One that we do is a Mexican restaurant. They were extremely unsatisfied with their previous cleaner. They called us for an estimate. We were twice as much as the previous cleaner. The owner looked at me like I was crazy. I stuck to my guns and walked out. Six months later they gave in and called. Asked us if we would consider lowering the price and I refused. He was desperate at this point and decided to give us a try.
When we finally fired up the truckmount and started making clean stripes with every stroke we got surrounded with "wide-eyed" Mexicans. They were in shock.
The owner told me that now he understood my price. We have been cleaning it now for over 3 years.

Joe D., quote the price to suit you. If you bid a restaurant low and get it, you will end up hating yourself for it. They have to be done at odd hours with a ton of furniture moving.

Just my opinion.

Two Prices I would Suggest. 15 cents a square foot if they move the furniture or 20 cents a sf if you have to move the furniture. I think if you Cimex it with Punch as prespray and then 8oz to the gallon you will not have a ton of need for HWE. maybe once every 4 - 6 months. Those two products destroy grease.
