OP or Cimex

September 1 2008 at 6:40 PM
Brad

Those of you that have both OP and a Cimex, witch do you use on residential carpet. Does it matter if it is a cut pile or a loop?

Thanks

We use both machines and for residential, I mostly use the OP machine especially on cut pile. If there is a fair amount of berber, I'll probably bring in the Cimex.

OP'D TODAY

September 1 2008, 11:02 PM

Actually I pad capped. 398 sf of that tiny nub-nap. And 200 sf of level loop all residential. I believe i need sprayer lessons. I used 6 gallons of rtu juice on these carpets.

It seems the juice was drying up as fast as i was putting it down. Could it be the tip i use? 3-1/2 gallons was gone on the 200 sf. area of loop nylon. Anyone giving lessons?

Thanks

My cimex dosnt like resi carpet. Used a CRB on a Berber carpet today with awesome results though. HWE for 99.9% of residential for me. Only reason CRB'd this one was because house was a forclosure and had no Power or Water. So had to bring my own power and water.

I just don't get OP.
maybe i'm using the wrong pads but when I'm on a commercial job with OP and Cimex the OP seems like it is the most useless tool in the box.

OP or Cimex

It depends on the job for me.

1) If I have to go up or down stiars I use op

exception: berber up stairs or down then I use 'mex with
fiber plus pads

2) If extremely dirty, no matter what type of carpet I use 'mex with fiber plus followed by op

3) If its not too dirty op all the way

For example I had three decent sized resi jobs today

Job 1: Op the whole thing

Job 2: 'Mex downstairs with FP Pads cuz of berber, op upstairs no berber not too dirty

Job 3: Op the whole thing

...I'm tired.

Just wondering if anyone use the microfiber bonnet without a glide?

Thanks

In most cases you can probably run just fine without a glide. However on very plush soft residential carpets you may want to still run a thin glide to cut down on abrasion. But you can be the judge of that as you consider the way it's running on the carpet.
