Lance Armstrong

Some of you may know that I am an avid cyclist. One of the cool things about Connections this year was that it coincided with Interbike (the international show for the cycling industry). Well low and behold, Lance Armstrong showed up and raced one of the nights at a Cyclocross event! We were able to snap this photo with a crappy camera. Seeing Lance race was a rare treat! Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Yeah Craig I thought that was you. LOL

Actually Lance fared pretty badly in this race. He came in about a minute and a half behind the winner. I don't think cyclocross is his cup of tea. Of course it probably didn't help that he was in New York in the morning with president Clinton announcing his plans to ride for Astana, then racing in Las Vegas at 9pm that same evening.

Cool Bruce! Riding is A GREAT form of exercise!

I used to race road bikes when I was young. Back then we all rode on sew-ups and had leather helmets. But then I stopped riding for about 20 years or so (I can't really say why either). Well I'm happy that I came to my senses and started back riding again about 3 years ago. I got my wife and I some nice bikes (Columbus tubing and Campagnolo parts). And we're both loving it!

I normally ride 5 or 6 mornings a week. But my rides have to be short, from 6-15 miles - unfortunately that's all I can squeeze in. But it's better than not riding at all. In fact it's a LOT BETTER than not riding - I feel much more alert and healthy on days that I ride!

Ride hard!

I cant

I cant ride anymore, as I have gotten older, I came down with a sickness called "bike ass".

Its when my ass covers the entire seat and it gets stuck. Not a pretty thing to see.

I am sure medical science is working on a cure, but until then, I will just park my bike ass in front of the tv or computer with a bag of chips.

Joe, try a recumbent. Those bikes are so comfy that you'd be surprised at how far you can go at first. Just watch out for overdoing it because they are so comfy. Go test ride one. They do have their drawbacks though.

Nice to see there are some fellow cyclists here. You all might also be surprised to know that there are even some Gelinas’ that are pretty fast. ‘Course Rick did okay this morning holding 21mph over a 12mi trek.
