Appreciated the visit, Rick.

Thanks for your time when I was down there. I didn't expect the advice (about pio'ing) you gave me but it's ironic that something similar was said in question form from another friend while I was down there for his sisters memorial.
I picked up a copy of the book you suggested and it has given me alot to think about. I am nearly finished with it. The info so far is interesting, exciting, eye opening, but also daunting and frustrating because I like my comfort zone (which is also hurting us sometimes). I know it can be done but I sure wish it could be turn key for me. But I guess that would be too easy.
When I this business is handed to me in about a year and a half I will now be in a better position to know what to do and should already have the ball rolling if I don't slack. It is funny how I see my personality holding me back from making changes like this. (And this coming from a guy who has completed some tough physical challenges; 100 and three 62 mile bike rides). But its more mental than physical I know, so I need to work on the mental laziness.

Once again, thank you and your staff for taking time out of your day. I know you guys are super busy.

Tony,

I enjoyed meeting you and your wife. I admire your energy and passion for the business. I know you can make a success of your business and the more important things in life too.

Tony and I spoke about business being a means to an end. One of the points I often ask audiences (like at Connections) considers this thought... "Ask a dying man if he'd like a few thousand dollars or a few more days to live" This illustrates the point that TIME is the stuff that life is made of. And our businesses should serve us to not only create monetary revenue, but also to create a revenue of time. Time is not money. Time is life! And commercial carpet cleaning can easily open the door to having more time.

The book I recommended to Tony is the E-Myth. As many of you already know, it is THE BOOK that every business person has got to read. I know many of you have read it already. It outlines practical ways to systematize a business. And it helps a business owner to identify the roles that are necessary to succeed in a business enterprise (Technician, Manager, and Entrepreneur). Read it (or listen to it in audio form), and apply it!

Tony, it was really nice to get a chance to sit down with you for an hour or so and get to know each other. I hope you are successful as you develop your business and set priorities that will be most rewarding. It was a real pleasure to get to spend a little bit of time with you.
