Cimex cyclone 48 reliability

October 31 2008 at 10:03 PM
Paul

Hi there

Im posting from Chesterfield in the UK, I am wanting to buy a machine suitable for commercial work, ie hotels, retirement homes, office, etc and have been reading good things about the encap cleaning system. I have the chance to buy a used cimex machine next week, are there any reliability issues with these machines, are the motors pretty good? is there anything i need to check?

I would also be very interested in the techniques you guys use to get in to a company, do you find cold calling face to face works better than a letter addressed to the appropriate person, any tips welcome.

Many thanks

Paul

Reliable ??

Paul, I don't think I'm really qualified to comment on the reliability of the Cimex machine.

I've only had mine for four years, works five & six days a week.

On some periods, it was working seven days a week.

In that four years, I have not had one problem, although I have modified mine slightly in regards to different wheels, on/off switch, cut the lead so I can use various lengths as required.

It is the biggest single money earner for me.

Hope this helps.

Ooroo,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways.

Paul-
The Cimex will alow you to make good money on commercial you mention large senior homes. Awsome for that, I am now doing my second home in stages because of what the customer wanted done that way. These facilities are 3 stories 185 apts. dining rooms, librarys, game room, computer rooms, etc. we do apts with OP and everything else with Cimex. Our last job 42,000( common areas only) + 2 people 25 hours ( 3 nights) we offer to clean during the evening hours due to the quiet running of the Cimex this gives a nice edge to getting the job. Set up a demo they will be impressed.

Do you know how old that used machine is and what condition it's in?

I've gotten to the point where I prefer to buy new equipment if it will be used a lot. It's always a gamble when you buy used equipment. You might not really be saving any money in the long run.

Rick sells the Cimex and many other machines. I would HIGHLY recommend getting equipment from him. He is pretty much the Cimex specialist.

Thamos,

Paul stated he was from the UK where the Cimex's are manufacturerd... UK is also 220V so I'm thinking buying from Rick may not be the best option.

Paul, I've had mine for 2.5 years and like Shorty's, it's worked flawlessly during that time. The only thing I've had to repair is the cord locating thingy came out of the body. Our fault, not a warranty issue.

The only maintenance that it has required is replacement grommets and cleaning out the drop lines in the base. Both of those only once each in the 2.5 years.

If the machine is in good condition and they are asking value for money (check new prices) I'd almost say 'just do it' and buy it.

There's a couple of things I'd suggest you look at, get an electrician to do a quick electrical test for you. Secondly, flip the base up, and take off the 3 heads and check the grommets. They may need replacing, but shouldn't be too expensive. Finally, other's may be able to advise you on the belts, I haven't had an issue so am unsure on that side of things.

Oops, my mistake!

However, still seems like a better new purchase than used if you intend to use for thousands upon thousands of square feet.

By the way, who's Thamos?
