Do any of you use telemarketeers? Do you recommend it? If you do how do you pay them? I try to make calls myself for at least 2 hours a day.As I am new in the business I feel like I
am moving very slow in building up my contact list,so I am thinking of using telemarketeers. Please give me your ideas and thoughts. They will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks Bill

Bill,

I don't use telemarketers and I never have. We started out with word of mouth advertising through networking groups, Chamber of Commerce, etc. Any place I can go and meet people and hand out business cards is great. I still do this today.

Another thing we did to build the business initially was to go out and place fliers on doors in neighborhoods. My dad and I did this for a couple of weeks when we first started almost 8 years ago. We got a few jobs from that and one of the best accounts we have ever had.

We hung a door hanger on a ladies door, who called us to clean her house. She didn't tell us that this was a test for bigger things. So, we cleaned it just like we normally would then she called back a few days later to have us bid on the car dealership that she is a general manager of. This has lead to us cleaning this car dealership 2-3 times a year both carpet and tile. Then she also has gotten us into three other car dealerships.

The reason why we never did telemarketing was because the bigger higher end residential jobs usually come from referrals not telemarketing.

I am not going to tell you that using telemarketing is bad, we just made a decision to do it differently, because we wanted the high end customer. This has paid off for us because now all those same high end customers also bring in their oriental rugs to be cleaned.

I dont use telemarketers but i do telemarket myself. I have found it to be succesful with less resistence then I expected. I would suggest it be used for commercial work only though. Too many liabilities when it comes to residential. With the "DO NOT CALL" laws out there.
