VCT Strip / Scrub / Recoat

Couple questions regarding using your Cimex for VCT restoration & maintenance.

1) Is anyone using their Cimex to strip VCT using the Lighting Floor Stripping Pads? How are you cleaning your Cimex afterwards with all the slurry residue?

2) Are you also using the FiberPlus Max pads to scrub and the FiberPlus pads to buff/recoat finish?

3) Are you receiving a satisfactory gloss using the FiberPlus pads when buffing the finish?

Thanks!!

I have stripped a ton of floors with the Cimex and the Lightning Strip Pads. That combination strips floors incredibly well. It gets every bit of the finish off the floor (even the stuff that's down in the dips in the floor).

To clean up the Cimex after the job, just have a 5 gallon bucket of clean water handy. Dunk a terry-cloth towel into the bucket. Then use the sopping towel to wipe down every part of the machine that came in contact with the stripper slurry. After you're done, drop the pad drivers into the bucket of water and give them a good rinsing too.

The FiberPlus Max pads are great for floor scrubbing - normal cleaning. However you can't really buff or burnish with a Cimex (using any type of pads). There simply isn''t enough heat generated to pop a good shine. You really need to have a high speed buffer. An electric high speed buffer can get the job done. We've used Koblenz 1500 rpm buffers for several years in our cleaning business. They hold up extremely well, and produce a decent shine.

Here are the machines we use for high speed buffing...

You strip edges and corners the same way you would with any machine. Since all machines are round, including the Cimex - you can't get into the corner with it. In fact there are a number of areas where you will need to do "detail" work. So you'll need to use a doodlebug, a scraper, or use your stripper mop to work the finish loose from the edges and corners.

Hey Rick,
I see how that could have sounded like a sarcastic question. Cause its commom sense that the round head can't get in the corners. But I really am curious if there is a tool or technique to get that high gloss shine in the corners, being that I really never familiarized myself with stripping & burnishing I wouldn't know. Maybe I'll manufacture a tool that does just that.

Thanks

The answer to corners is,

Doodle Bug Pad Holder For Sponges and Pads

Doodle Bug Pads

I do not know this supplier and they are very high priced. Ask Rick to source them for you. I paid about half of this price in Canadian as well.
